7 Hilariously Bad Indian Superhero Movies Which Prove We Can’t Make Good Superhero Costumes

Indian filmmakers do not make that many films on superheroes and there is a very good reason for that - we simply do not know how to make good superhero films.

The only worthwhile superhero films that one can think of, are Krrish, starring Hrithik Roshan and Robot, starring Rajinikanth. And do consider the fact that these films came out almost a decade ago.

Just take a good, hard look at the costumes of some of the “superhero” films we have made over the years, and you’ll get why we struggle with superhero films. If we can’t get the costume right, is it any wonder that we make terrible superhero films?

1. Kanthaswamy

Don’t get us wrong, Vikram is a superb actor. However, his costume in Kanthaswamy as a superhero was a disaster.

The costume looks like it was picked up from a South American carnival or something. And seriously, what’s with all those feathers?

2. Ra.One

No matter how much you try to defend Ra.One, you simply cannot defend Shah Rukh Khan’s costume in that film. Perhaps for the first time ever, the baddy in a superhero film was better dressed and had a better costume than the hero.

Even in the digital renders of the poster, Shah Rukh’s costume looked like a badly made mix of Iron Man’s the suit, mixed with Aquaman’s suit, and a few visual cues from Cyborg from DC.

3. Bhavesh Joshi Superhero

People have called Bhavesh Joshi Superhero a badly and cheaply made superhero, and we get why.

Consider this - so bad is the costume, that the filmmakers did not show the entirety of the costume in any frame from the film. The ‘costume’ consists of a badly made mask with LED lights for eyes, and track jacket and cargo pants - that’s it.

4. A Flying Jatt

Tiger Shroff’s Costume in A Flying Jatt wasn’t the worst thing we ever saw, but it definitely wasn’t good either.

It looked like someone took Sonic the Hedgehog, and tried to “make it Indian.” And don’t go by the posters, for the costume looks better in them.

Low budget television shows have had better costumes. It looks as if Tiger’s costume was made from a blue tarpaulin sheet.

5. Superhero Singh

Starring Diljit Dosanjh, Superhero Singh was actually quite a funny movie. However, we would say calling it a superhero film would be a bit of a stretch.

First of all, what is that mask that he’s wearing? It looks like it was made from the scraps that were left over after making Krrish’s mask.

6.  Superman

Oh yes, we have made a blatant copy of the 1978 Superman. Apart from the plot, story and dialogues, we also copied the costume that was made for the film.

If you ever make the mistake of seeing the film, you’ll realise that perhaps the costumer makers were unaware of the concept of alterations and fittings.

7.  Ajooba

Amitabh Bachchan’s Ajooba was a disaster at the box office. But an even bigger disaster than the film was Amitabh Bachchan’s costume, which is surprising, given that he is known for having an immaculate sense of style and fashion.

His costume in the film looks like a mix between Hawkeye, Hatim, & He-Man.

We’re pretty sure that we have missed some other “marvels” of filmmaking in this list. Do let us know if you can think of some, which we have missed out.
