Whether your parents, girlfriend, boyfriend, husband or wife likes it or not, video games have proven to be good for mental health according to numerous studies around the world. In fact, in India alone, there was a rise of 200% in console sales during the lockdown period as more people started to play games. A recent study by the UK's National Literacy Trust found that “video games can be a genuine route for gamers in reading, creative writing, improving literacy skills and most importantly, emotional wellbeing.”

In the case of the UK’s National Literacy Trust study it was found that 60% of the 4,600 respondents admitted that gaming has the ability to keep their kids in contact with friends and family during the lockdown. Keeping in touch with your friends on a regular basis is important for the mental wellbeing of children. Games like Call of Duty: Warzone, Valorant and other competitive online multiplayer games enable gamers to strategize and implement their strategies that require precision and skill which no other form of entertainment can even evoke. These games also play an important role in the life of millennials. There’s a reason why the WHO encouraged everyone to sit at home and play games during the pandemic. Not only was it used as a measure to reduce the spread of the virus, but video games are also now more social than ever. It also helped gamers interact with their friends on a daily basis.
