PUBG Mobile, PUBG Mobile Lite Will Completely Stop Working In India From Today

As soon as the Indian government started going after the Chinese apps and banned TikTok, we pretty much knew PUBG Mobile was going to be next in line. Well, we were right and the game was indeed bannedΒ on September 2. A lot of people don't know this but the game was still available to play for those who already had it downloaded on their devices.

That, however, is not going to be the case starting today because the game's devs have officially announced that the servers are shutting. That's right, PUBG Mobile and PUBG Mobile Lite will no longer be even playable in India starting today.

This was announced by PUBG Mobile India's official Facebook page. Here's what the post says -

"Dear Fans, To comply with the interim order of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology dated September 2, 2020, Tencent Games will terminate all service and access for users in India to PUBG MOBILE Nordic Map: Livik and PUBG MOBILE Lite (together, β€œPUBG Mobile”) on October 30, 2020. The rights to publish PUBG MOBILE in India will be returned to the owner of the PUBG intellectual property. Protecting user data has always been a top priority and we have always complied with applicable data protection laws and regulations in India. All users’ gameplay information is processed in a transparent manner, as disclosed in our privacy policy. We deeply regret this outcome, and sincerely thank you for your support and love for PUBG MOBILE in India."

This seems like the end of the line for PUBG Mobile, at least for now. We're not entirely sure if the game will ever make a comeback in India. They'll have to cover a lot of roads before making it happen, but we're sure PUBG Mobile fans will be waiting to welcome the game with open arms.

PUBG Mobile's publishing rights were previously held by Tencent Games. However, Bluehole decided to cut all ties with Tencent Games following the ban. Bluehole currently holds all the publishing rights of the game.
