Indian ‘Iron Man’ Sourav Ganguly’s Battle VS Covid-19 Shows He’s Dominating The Pandemic Too

The former captain of the Indian cricket team and the current BCCI president, Sourav Ganguly has conquered the ongoing coronavirus pandemic every single time *touches wood*.

In a virtual media conference on Tuesday, the ‘Prince of Kolkata’ revealed that he had to get tested for the virus 22 times in the last four and a half months and the results came out negative every single time.

Ganguly said:

“I must tell you I have got tested 22 times in the last four and half months and not been positive even once, I have had cases around me, so that probably forced me to get tested myself.”

He added:

“I stay with elderly parents and I have travelled to Dubai and in the initial part, I was very worried, not just for me, but the community, you don’t want to spread it to somebody else because people are looking up to you.”

It is not easy being the most important person in the administrative end of a sport that is worshiped in a country like India, which has one of the most dominating teams in the world both on the field and as an influence on the future of cricket.

As a result, Ganguly has to often choose work over personal life, put his health at risk and continue to travel from one country to another regardless of how much the medical experts have stressed upon avoiding international travel.

Ganguly also addressed the much anticipated series between India and Australia in all three formats of the game.

The Men in Blue, who traveled Down Under directly from the United Arab Emirates after the end of the Indian Premier League 2020 are now out of their quarantine period and all set to take on the Aussie challenge from November 27 when they play the first ODI at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

Ganguly said:

“The players are fit and fine, Australia also doesn’t have a very high number of COVID cases, the borders were closed for a while...they are still very, very tight on international travel, you have to do 14 days of hard quarantine, so the boys are ready to get onto the field.”
