Future MacBooks Might Have Little Displays On Each Key & We Wonder How Expensive They'll Be

Apple's MacBooks aren't known to have the best keyboards. Although things have changed now for the better and we hope we keep getting good keyboards on the new MacBooks that are coming out in the future.

Now, the word out on the street is that Apple is planning to come up with a new kind of keyword with a little display on each key. Well, it might actually happen in the future because Patently Apple has unearthed an Apple patent which describes a "reconfigurable keyboard".

These keys will each have an associated key display. The patent says that the "control circuitry in the keyboard may direct the key displays to display dynamically adjustable key labels for the keys".

The possibilities are endless when it comes to a keyboard like this. It would even allow for responsive keys which would light up when pressed. The keyboard could also be reconfigured to suit a particular need like, say, gaming or to change from one language format to another.

With all that being said, it's worth pointing out that this is still very much a patent and it may or may not become a reality. We'd love to see some new MacBooks get this cool keyboard at some point. Heck, it'd be great if Apple ends up making standalone keyboards like this which can be used for their Mac Pro and other computers.Β
