BCCI’s Mighty Growth In Net Worth Over The Years Shows Why They’re The Greatest Asset For ICC


The Board of Control for Cricket in India or the BCCI, is without doubt, one of the most successful cricket boards in the world. It is also the wealthiest. But exactly how much is the organisation worth?

According to IANS reports, BCCI was worth a massive INR 14,489.80 crore at the end of the financial year 2018-19, adding Rs. 2,597.19 crore by the end of the final term of the year, according. Having said that, the 2018-19 balance sheet is yet to be made available to the public and the accounts of 2019-20 are still not ready.

The Indian cricket board categorised a staggering Rs. 4,017.11 crore under the ‘income’ column during this time, out of which Rs 2,407.46 crore was added to their financial might thanks to the marquee Indian Premier League.

Another major factor that led to such a significant surge in BCCI’s net worth was the earnings they made from media rights - a whopping Rs. 828 crore, which made it their second largest source of income during this tenure.

On the expenditure side of the cricketing business, BCCI ended up spending Rs. 1,592.12 crore during FY 2018-19.

Here’s who the BCCI has grown in net worth over the years:

● 2014-15 - Rs. 5,438.61 crore

● 2015-16 - Rs. 7,847.07 crore

● 2016-17 - Rs. 8,431.86 crore

● 2017-18 - Rs. 11,892.61 crore

● 2018-19 - Rs. 14,889.80 crore

Other Sources of Income For BCCI:

Other than IPL 2018, the primary sources of income for the Indian cricket board involve the men’s international tours/tournaments hosted in India (Rs. 446.26 crore). Bank interests (Rs. 290.73 crore) and income from ICC/Asian Cricket Council (Rs. 25.03 crore).
