The PlayStation 5 finally went live with its pre-orders across multiple retailers and many were able to secure one as soon as it went live. Having said that, the console was sold out on multiple platforms within seconds leaving many fans without a chance to order a unit for themselves. Some websites like GamesTheShop crashed even before the pre-orders went live leaving many customers scrambling to order from alternative retailers.

While it isn’t certain how many consoles were made available for pre-order, previous reports by The Mako Reactor suggests that only 10,000 to 15,0000 units were available for pre-order. However, IGN India reports that only 4,000 to 5,000 units were available for pre-order according to their sources in the supply chain. Sony India delayed the launch of the PlayStation 5 due to various reasons and will be available in India from 2nd February. As of now, it is not certain whether Sony will able to restock the console in time for the launch on 2nd February.

Many fans who wanted to order a console for themselves but missed out on the pre-order took to Twitter and reacted with memes, disappointment and even relief for securing their orders.

However, it is worthy to point out that scalpers are already reselling the PlayStation 5 on websites like OLX and private gaming WhatsApp groups for a profit. There might be a good chance that offline retailers like Bajaj electronics and Sony Centers may still have stock for offline preorders, We advise calling your local retailer or Sony Center before going to place an offline order.
