Punjabi actor Deep Sidhu was arrested by the special cell of the Delhi police on Tuesday on charges of instigating violence at the time of the tractor rally on Republic Day.

Delhi police’s crime branch has been trying to find him for the past few days since several farmers accused him of playing an integral role in creating ruckus at Red Fort on 26th January.

Just after the violence that took place on January 26, Sidhu uploaded a Facebook video the next day saying that the incident should not be given any communal color nor the protestors should be called fundamentalists or hardliners.

Not only this, the Delhi Police had also announced a monetary reward for anyone who could help them in finding Sidhu or also tell them his whereabouts.

Deep Sidhu had released a new video while he was hiding and he could be seen crying and venting in anger in the video and cried particularly as farmers and Punjabis branded him a ‘traitor’.

He said, "I have raised the voice of Punjab and its people. I was branded a traitor. There were 5 lakh people at the Red Fort, including singers and leaders, but only one (I) was singled out.”

Police said that Deep couldn’t be easily tracked as his videos were uploaded by his friend from California so the authorities failed to track his location. Delhi Police sources said that Deep Sidhu was in contact with a woman friend who lives in California. He used to make videos and send them to her, and she used to upload them on his Facebook account.
