Delhi government has imposed a night curfew with immediate effect from today as Coronavirus cases are surging in the country. The night curfew will be effective from 10 pm to 5am till 30th April.

ANI took to Twitter to confirm the news saying, “Night curfew imposed in Delhi from 10 pm to 5 am with immediate effect till 30th April, in the wake of #COVID19 situation: Delhi Government.”

The state was earlier contemplating the idea of imposing a night curfew in the national capital. A senior government official told PTI, “A proposal for imposing night curfew is under consideration. The details are being discussed, including the time period of the curfew which could be from 10 pm to 5 am.”

Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain said that the national capital is under the fourth wave of the coronavirus pandemic. Now the micro-containment zones are being set up in places where there are two or more cases.

It is also being said that the sudden rise in the COVID-19 cases is as people are not following proper social distancing norms and proper Coronavirus guidelines.

Apart from Delhi, other states that imposed night curfew include other states like Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Odisha, Gujarat, and Punjab. This has been done to contain the surge in Covid-19 cases.
