Jadeja Shows India’s World Test Championship Jersey & Finally, The Ugly Sponsor Logos Are Gone

The Indian cricket team is currently in quarantine before making their way to the United Kingdom to face off Kane Williamson and the New Zealand squad in a one-off red-ball match to decide the winner of the inaugural World Test Championship tournament.

With less than a week to go for the Men in Blue to get on that charter plane and fly off to England, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja shared the first look of the jerseys the Indian cricketers will be wearing during the finals and it is safe to say that the designers have finally been able to make something good here.

Blue stripes going across the neck, the ICC WTC Final donned proudly over the right shoulder, the logo of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) printed on the left shoulder and written in big, bold letters “India” straight across the chest.

It is simple, it is elegant, and it definitely has a retro feel to it but guess what, what’s actually working!

Here’s how some of the fans reacted:

Wowww🤩 Retrooo..... https://t.co/jZ36hITn4h

One of the biggest problems with the Team India jerseys in the recent past has been how big the logos of the sponsors looked, branded in the torso section of the players and over their shoulders as well.

Team India fans have, on more than one occasion, criticised how overpowering the Byju’s logo looked, and took away the essence from the fact that it was in fact a Team India kit. The MPL logo right above the Byju’s symbol didn’t help either and made our cricketers look like walking billboards.

Virat Kohli and the A-String Team India will take on the Kiwis in a five-day Test match between June 18 and 22 at Southampton’s Rose Bowl Cricket Ground, also known as The Ageas Bowl, with the hopes of becoming the first-ever world champions in the longest format of the game.

On the other hand, Williamson and Co are already in the UK and set to take on Joe Root’s men in a two-match Test series before they gear up for the biggest challenge of the year.
