Samsung was rumoured to launch two new foldable smartphones on August 11th and now the company has officially confirmed that the two smartphones will be launching next month. The company will also be skipping the Galaxy Note series as there was no mention of the phone in the official press release.

Samsung’s official mobile chief Dr TM Roh revealed that the company is indeed launching two foldable smartphones at the event and in the Z series. "We will unleash our latest and greatest Galaxy Z series to reshape the smartphone category and completely reimagine your experiences," said Dr. TM Roh, President & Head of Mobile Communications Business, Samsung Electronics.

Dr Roh also hinted that the two devices will “combine the very best that smartphones and tablets offer, while the Z Flip will exhibit an even more refined style, armed with more durable, stronger materials.”

"We are out to set new heights and open up a whole new world of exciting experiences for even more people. I hope you’ll join us as we debut our next Galaxy Z family and share some foldable surprises — including the first-ever S Pen designed specifically for foldable phones," he added.

Dr Roh has also all but confirmed a dedicated S Pen for the Galaxy Z Fold 3 which was also rumoured earlier to be included with the smartphone. We aren’t entirely sure what S Pen support for foldable means at the moment, however Samsung will eventually clear every doubt at the launch event. 

However, one thing is for sure, Samsung will not be launching a new Galaxy Note device and instead focus on its foldable smartphone lineup. “Instead of unveiling a new Galaxy Note this time around, we will further broaden beloved Note features to more Samsung Galaxy devices.”

Samsung is all set to launch the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and the Galaxy Z Flip 3 on August 11th. The two smartphones are expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 chipset and have IP68 water/dust resistance. 

It has been rumoured that Samsung will focus more on the durability of its two smartphones apart from offering water and dust resistance. The Galaxy Z Flip 3 is also expected to be relatively cheaper than its predecessors, which may enable Samsung to put foldable smartphones in more hands than ever before.
