Every iPhone User Should Turn On This Powerful iOS 15 Privacy Feature That Records Apps Spying

Apple is not shying away from cracking down on apps that access your private information with powerful new features on iOS 15. If you want to protect your private data such as location data, photos, camera, microphone, and what servers an app is communicating with, you need to turn on this feature on iOS 15 right away. This feature will now let users find out which apps are storing what kind of personal data and what they are up to behind the scenes.

However, in order to make use of this privacy feature, iPhone users need to turn it on manually as it isn’t enabled by default. The new privacy feature is called ‘Record App Activity’ where it does exactly what the name suggests. You will first need to update your iPhone to iOS 15 if you want to start tracking what apps are doing. After updating your iPhone, you need to head to Settings > Privacy and then scroll to the bottom of the page. Tap on the ‘Record App Activity and turn it on.

Once enabled, your iPhone will now start recording everything that apps are up to and give a 7-day summary. The feature will record sensitive activities an app tracks such as:

The user's photo libraryA cameraThe microphoneThe user's contactsThe user's media libraryLocation dataScreen sharing

The new privacy feature essentially gives users more control and gives information that they weren’t necessarily privy to previously. It will come most handy when you want to know when apps like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other social media apps record your usage and other personal details you may not be comfortable sharing. It’s the perfect tool to turn the tables on nefarious apps and spy on them in return.

iOS 15 also introduces other new features such as Focus Mode, Shared With You, new FaceTime features a new weather app, a redesigned Safari app and much more. The iOS15 update has rolled out for a range of iPhone models, all the way back to the original iPhone SE and iPhone 6s models.
