Aamir Khan, Bollywoodâs very own Mr Perfectionist, is believed to be a true magician when it comes to turning all that he touches into gold. Well, barring Thugs of Hindostan. 

But this 55-year-old Bollywood veteran has so many good titles to his name, that something like a Thugs of Hindostan doesnât quite succeed to shake our faith in his calibre as an actor.

But did you know that there are a handful of superhit blockbuster films that Aamir rejected over the span of his 32-year-old career? We agree you may have thought about it, but wait till you find out about some of the priceless ones our Mr Perfectionist missed out on:

1. Saajan

Before Sanjay Dutt took on the role of Sagar in this superhit movie, Aamir Khan was approached to star opposite Salman Khan and Madhuri Dixit. However, Aamir declined the offer because he didnât like the character.

2. Darr

This was perhaps one of the earliest times when the âobsessive loverâ was brought alive on the silver screen in Bollywood. Itâs almost impossible to forget the psychotic Rahul Mehra and his âK..K..K...Kiranâ. 

But reportedly, Yash Chopra had first offered this iconic role to Aamir, who declined it because he wasnât sure about playing a villain so early on in his career.

3. Hum Aapke Hain Koun

A Rajshri Productions classic, this one really added a substantial fan following to Salmanâs Bollywood journey. But Premâs role was first offered to Aamir, who ended up rejecting the role because he didnât find the script meaty enough.

4. Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge

Weâre so sure this must have hurt Aamir a whole lot. This Aditya Chopra directorial debut was first offered to Aamir who declined it. 

Later Salman also rejected the film, which was finally taken up by Shah Rukh Khan and boy, did it change SRKâs career graph or what!

5. Mohabbatein

This is yet another Aditya Chopra directorial that Aamir declined, and we think he shouldnât have. It was after Aamirâs rejection that SRK was roped in to play the âlove guruâ Raj Aryan Malhotra.

6. Swades

Having worked with Aamir in mega-blockbuster Lagaan, director Ashutosh Gowariker wanted to cast Aamir in Swades too. But Aamir wasnât convinced about the story and therefore rejected it. And as we know today, Aamirâs loss was SRKâs gain.

7. Bajrangi Bhaijaan

Reportedly, the makers of this 2015 blockbuster had first offered the lead role to Aamir who suggested a few changes in the script which were rejected by the director. So, Aamir then suggested that Salman be approached for the role instead.
