Here's How Much Apple Saved By Removing The Charger & Earpods From The iPhone 12 Box

Apple's decision to remove the charger and the earpods from their iPhone box packaging pissed a lot of people.Β

Apple said the decision was made keeping in view the company's environmental goals, and now, we just learned approximately how much Apple probably ended up saving by making that decision.Β

According to a Counterpoint Research report, it looks like Apple ended up saving $4.2 by not bundling any box contents.Β

Check out Counterpoint Research's infographics for the same:

$4.2 is approximately Rs 308 on every iPhone 12 box it shipped. While that doesn't look like a significant amount, it indeed adds up to a huge sum when you consider all the iPhone 12 units that Apple shipped.Β

As per the report, Apple shipped over 63 million iPhone units which means they probably ended up saving over $250 million.

That and you need to consider the amount of money they probably made by selling box accessories separately.Β

Obviously, this probably wasn't a move to save or make any profits but there's no denying that Apple did end up making a lot of profit off a decision that was made keeping their environmental goals in mind.

That being said though, Counterpoint Research says how it cost them more to make an iPhone 12 in comparison to the iPhone 11.Β

You can check out their report right here to learn more about other costs involved in detail.
