Varun Dhawan has been hitting it out of the park of late when it comes to Indian ethnic wear. There was this rather elegant-looking kurta set that he wore for his Mehendi.

Then there was that awesome sherwani that he donned for his wedding.

Needless to say, when it comes to Indian ethnic wear and looking absolutely stunning in it, Varun has been hitting all the right notes.
Well, very recently, Varun was seen with Natasha Dalal, returning to Mumbai from their wedding in Alibaug, wearing a maroon coloured kurta set, and a pair of dope looking kolhapuri slippers.

Varun is seen here wearing a custom made kurta set from Kunal Rawal. The kurta set is different from your generic kurta, in the sense that it has an open placket, meaning that it needs to be buttoned down all the way, like a shirt.

We also like the floral textures that he has on his arms. The piece has all the hallmarks of a piece from Kunal Rawal, who has been pushing the envelope when it comes to Indian ethnic wear for men, for quite some time now.

Now, there were a number of footwear options that Varun could have gone for. However, he opted to go for a very traditional kind of footwear - the Kolhapuri slippers.

Kolhapuri slippers can actually be very versatile, provided you style it properly.
It certainly goes well with most Indian ethnic outfits, but it also sits rather well with a pair of cargos, or denim jeans.
Heck, we wouldn’t be surprised if some influencer has paired it with a suit even.

The Kolhapuri chappals that you see Varun wearing here are from Aprajita Toor.
They are called the Gus, in Burgundy, and they aren’t that expensive when you consider how certain artisanal leather pieces can cost a bomb. They retail for Rs 3,700/-

You can also go for something similar from Sko. Called the Tan Brown Tasselled Leather Kohlapuris, these are a lot cheaper as they retail for Rs 2,450.

All in all, we have to say that what Varun’s wearing, is a heck of a way to go for a desi aesthetic, in this day and age. Well done man, take a bow.
