5 Times English Songs Had Desi Tunes & We Are Like ‘Sirf Hum Nahi Copy Karte’

Indian artists are usually accused of copying tunes or songs from the West. From movie scenes to storylines to song tunes, there are many incidents wherein Bollywood has been found guilty of copying. But, this time our focus is on western artists who were inspired by desi music and incorporated the same in their songs.

Many western tracks have borrowed heavily from Indian tunes and they have given us some amazing musical moments.

So, here is a list of songs where Western artists have incorporated desi tunes in their compositions.

    Addictive

The English song called ‘Addictive’ by Truth Hurts and Rakim has a portion of the very popular Lata Mangeshar song ‘Kaliyon Ka Chaman’ in the starting. And yes, most of us might not have noticed this yet but this is the coolest mix of Indian and western music.

    It’s My Birthday

AR Rahman is without a doubt every one’s favourite and artists from across the globe want to buy rights to his music or use a part of his compositions into their original tracks. And it shouldn’t be a huge surprise that we liked the song ‘It’s My Birthday’ more because it had ‘Urvasi Urvasi’ in the beginning of the song which also incorporated the beats of the old song.

    Don’t Phunk With My Heart

This song is a mix of Bollywood music and starts with the sound of the song ‘Ye Mera Dil’ which will give you major desi vibes.

Also, most of the song sounds entirely like ‘Ae Naujawan’ which was composed by Kalyan-Anand.

    Beware Of The Boys

The story behind this song is very interesting as Jay-Z heard the song ‘Mundiyan Tu Bachke’ at a nightclubs and loved the song so much that he reached out to do a collaboration. The song is one of the most famous songs and if you haven’t heard it yet, it’s time that you do.

    My Prerogative

The song starts with tabla beats and you’re going to resonate with the song even more.

So, now no one can say only Bollywood copies from the West. What do you think? Let us know in the comments section below!
