Shahid Kapoor Rejected This Movie That Later Went To Ranbir Kapoor & Became A Super Hit

Shahid Kapoorย and Ranbir Kapoor are both bankable actors of the film industry. Over the years, both of them have managed to gain admirers of their own. However, you might find this scoop to be a little surprising. Director Rajkumar Santoshi reached out to Shahid Kapoor for a movie but he rejected it and it then went to Ranbir Kapoor.

We are talking about Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani. The film produced by Ramesh S. Taurani starred Ranbirย and Katrina Kaif in lead roles. It was Ranbir and Katrina's first film together. Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani was declared a super-hit at the box office and Ranbir won several awards for the film as well. But did you have any idea that Ranbir wasnโ€™t the first choice?ย

According to a report in Filmfare, Shahid declined the offer because he thought that the character of Prem was similar to his character in Jab We Met. He didnโ€™t want to repeat himself and hence, he said no to the offer.

Later on, the filmmaker did collaborate with Shahid for Phata Poster Nikhla Hero. However, it did not turn out to be a hit.

In an interview, Shahid was all praises for the director who he thinks had brought out the best of his comic side in Phata Poster Nikla Hero. He said, "When I heard the script, I found it extremely entertaining. Rajji acted out every character from the film during the narration. I knew that I am with a director who is very clear about what he wanted from me as an actor. He said this is the character to entertain the audience so that they enjoy themselves with all the buffoonery that he does."ย

We wonder how differently the film would have turned out if Shahid was the showman of Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani. That being said, we feel Ranbir was meant for the role and did complete justice to it.
