Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is usually known for his kind-hearted, forever warm superstar persona, besides being a legend. 

He has seldom lost his cool in public and has shown no outright angst when it comes to gossip pieces written about him. However, as they say, we all have our limits and it looks like SRK also had his limit tested way back in 1992, when a piece of news written on him angered him to no end and left him furious.

A scandalous news piece written about him and his Maya Memsaab co-star Deepa Shahi claimed that he apparently 'spent the night' with her, and the actor later threatened the editor and reportedly hurled abuses at him. 

According to Anupama Chopra’s book King of Bollywood: Shah Rukh Khan and the Seductive World of Indian Cinema, the intimate scenes between SRK and Deepa Shahi were filmed under the guidance and the presence of her husband Ketan Mehta. 

The book mentions that a magazine journalist published a scandalous story that Ketan asked his wife Deepa to spend a night with SRK in order to get comfortable with him. 

SRK assumed it was a journalist named Keith who wrote this piece and he ended up threatening him after being fuelled with anger.

When SRK appeared on My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman, he mentioned this incident as well. “I got very angry and I called up the editor and I said, ‘You wrote this’. He said 'but listen, can you just take it… it’s just a joke'. 'I don’t find it funny' I said and so, I went down to the office and I misbehaved a lot," he said. 

Talking about the arrest, he quipped “I was shooting a film and the cops came. They sat down very sweetly and said, ‘we have a few questions to ask you’ I said, ‘do you want me to pack and we can chat in my car?’ Because I always assume anyone who meets me is a fan. They said, no, we want you to come in our car!” he laughed.

While SRK got bail, he explained that he later called the editor and said “Now I’m in jail, and I’m not scared. Now you are very scared.”  

Eventually, he found out that the journalist was not the guy he thought so he personally went and apologised. 

Well, that’s what we love about SRK, his humility and his humble nature and not being afraid to show his flawed side as well.
