Crew cuts are one of the most common hairstyles that men tend to go for if they are looking for a hairstyle that is non-flamboyant and a little conservative. Even though it is considered a ‘safe’ haircut, it has a number of variations that actually look quite dapper.

In fact, most of these variations, actually look good on all Indian men, no matter what their face shape or skin tone is.

We pick a few of these crew cut styles that we think you all ought to try, at least once.

With the regular crew cut, there is no prominent fade involved. Just ask your barber to trim the hair on the sides and the back of your head, such that they are shorter than the hair on the top of your head. It’s as simple as that.

Like Virat Kohli here, you can actually combine a few other styles to come up with your own variant. Just ensure that for the crew cut part of this hairstyle, ask your barber to trim your hair really short, and to make the fade line about 3 inches on top of your ear. The more aggressive the fade, the better this looks.

Compare Virat’s fade with that of Vicky. Vicky’s fade is a lot denser and darker. The best thing about this one is that Vicky actually got this haircut from Sunny, his brother, during the lockdown. Such a crew cut goes really well with the slightly curly hair that Vicky has.

Remember we said that you can actually combine a number of other hairstyles with a crew cut if you play around with the length of your hair at the top? Well, how about adding a pompadour to your crew cut, like Ayushmannn here? That is one super stylish way to amp things up.

This one is quite similar to the first one, apart from a few minor details. First of all, the hair on the sides and the back will be a little shorter than the first one. Secondly, instead of keeping your hair long on the top of your head, you need to keep them considerably shorter, but not as short as the hair on your side.

The crew cut with a low buzzed fade is one of the easier styles to go for. You don’t need to push the fade too high, but you need to get the fade in an aggressive manner. Trim your hair as short you can possibly go, without shaving your hair off. If you have densely growing hair, this looks particularly good.

Forget the scar-like line for a moment when you consider Allu Arjun’s photo here. Notice that the fade is layered in two portions which meet abruptly. Your barber will need to be patient with this one, but trust us, if you get it right, it’s totally worth the effort. The fade has to be low on this one. The second ‘tier’ will be longer than the buzzed part. The hair on the top of your head should be longer.
