The OnePlus 9 series of phones are still months away from being officially announced. However, there's already a OnePlus 9 prototype out there in the wild, thanks to eBay. That's right, a OnePlus 9 prototype, that recently surfaced online in a leak, ended up on eBay.
It was actually picked up by someone for $6,000. That roughly translates to around Rs 4.4 lakh which is indeed a lot of money for a smartphone. Upon closer inspection, the unit on eBay is the same one that appeared in the mid-December leak.

Here's a prototype of the OnePlus 9 5G. These images come from an eBay seller/listing that seems to be the same source that gave live images to @PhoneArena recently.

This prototype was not meant for normal day-to-day usage. Prototypes are usually meant for internal usage and for testing purposes. The fact that it got leaked and then got listed on eBay is just unfortunate. We're sure it'll be very easy for OnePlus to just track down the unit and find out its whereabouts.

The listing clearly mentions that the device could attract a penalty from OnePlus. They can even remotely disable the unit, making it completely useless. So yes, it's probably just a better idea to wait for the retail unit that's expected to drop sometime in March.
