Some Of The Biggest Websites Face Global Outages & The World Couldn’t Keep Calm About It

Some of the major websites, news outlets and e-commerce platforms were facing outages earlier today, including Amazon, Reddit, Twitch, BBC, The Guardian amongst many others.

Music streaming platforms such as Spotify were also impacted by these outages.

The problem appeared to be related to Fastly, a company that provides services and infrastructure that underpins some of the most integral parts of the internet.

The issue might be specially related to a Content Delivery Network or CDN. These CDNs hosts a copy of websites around the world so that people can visit web pages as quickly as possible.

Due to this problem, many visits saw several websites with the error message including “Error 503 Service Unavailable” and a terse “connection failure.”

Some of the most important media websites like BBC and CNN also showed the same error message when visiting their web pages.

Fastly has now identified and fixed that problem but says that customers may experience increased origin load as global services run.

While services are returning to normal, the internet couldn’t keep calm and took to Twitter to post memes about not being able to visit their favourite websites. Here were some of the best ones:
