In another episode of ‘this happens only in India’, a bride called off the wedding after the groom failed to read the Hindi newspaper without wearing his glasses. This incident took place in Uttar Pradesh’s Auraiya district, the bride refused to get married to the groom as he couldn’t read when she asked him to read the newspaper.

However, the groom didn’t fail to read the newspaper because he was illiterate or didn’t know how to read Hindi, but, he couldn’t read as he wasn’t wearing his glasses. Yes, the groom was left at the altar due to his weak eyesight.

According to a report, the bride’s family not only called off the wedding but also filed a case against the boy and his family. Arjun Singh, the father of the bride, fixed the marriage of his daughter Archana with Shivam, who lived in the Achalda town under Banshi police station.

The girl’s father fixed the wedding as Shivam was literate, however, on the wedding day the bride’s family gave the groom a motorcycle along with some cash. Both the families were enjoying the ceremony while the bride’s side noticed that the groom was constantly wearing a pair of glasses and then the family became suspicious that the groom had weak eyesight.

After hearing that the groom couldn’t see without wearing glasses, the bride refused to marry him and also asked the groom to read the paper to clarify her doubt.

The bride’s father also agreed with his daughter and said that he thought that the groom wore glasses just for fashion and nothing else.
