  1. The year 2021 was a tough year. Especially in the matters of the heart, for we ended up witnessing too many divorces and break-ups that we’d hoped. Be it between actors Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Naga Chaitanya or Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik, the year was full of splits. However, if there is one thing that stings more than heartbreak during such split-ups, it has to be the settlement of alimony, which in a few cases like this one, was off the charts. We are talking about the divorce settlement of Dubai royalty, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum and his ex-wife. © Reuters Turns out, the UK courts have ordered the Sheikh to pay £550 million ($730 million) to his ex-wife as settlement. Middle Eastern royalty Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum was married to Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein in 2004 however things didn’t bode well for the couple as they drifted apart. The 72-year-old vice-president and prime minister of UAE apparently divorced the Princess in 2019 under the Sharia law without her knowledge. The details of their marriage also came forward during the court proceedings which brought to light how Sheikh Mohammed authorised the use of spying software to hack his ex-wife's phones. © Reuters Not just this, but the Ruler of Dubai had previously also been accused of having organized the abduction of two of his daughters and had them forcibly returned to Dubai. And it is this fear and intimidating need for tight security that has translated into such a big amount of alimony. After years of battle between the estranged royal couple, the UK high court has observed that Sheikh Mohammed used his "immense wealth, political power and international influence" to try and bully and silence the 47-year-old princess. © Reuters From the £550 million ($730 million) that needs to be paid to Princess Haya, 251.5 million pounds would go towards the upkeep of Princess Haya's houses in London. And over and above that, the Dubai ruler has been ordered by the court to cover a 10-year refurbishment project of the house and also cover the salaries of five housekeepers. During her marriage with the Sheikh, Princess Haya had bought almost 400 racehorses, spent 631,000 pounds on one summer vacation in Italy, and on another in Greece, they spent close to 274,000 euros. In fact, the Ruler of Dubai had granted 277,050 pounds a year for spending on pets, including 25,000 pounds to buy horses and 12,000 pounds for toys, grooming, and training of unspecified animals. © Reuters As far as her wardrobe was concerned, the Sheikh used to spoil her with extravagant clothes and jewels day in and day out. During the divorce settlement, she was awarded 13.7 million pounds as compensation for her alleged missing jewellery and haute couture. Source: NDTV View the full article
  2. Back in time, we mostly saw LGBTQ+ characters come on in an irregular manner on shows or movies, mostly to add to the comedic or dramatic effect. This stereotypical route changed in recent years. Many shows paved the path for queer representation, and honestly, it has never been better. © iStock As we celebrate pride month and the LGBTQ+ community, we have summed eight shows to stream on Netflix right now: 1. Brooklyn Nine-Nine © Netflix One of the top-rated shows on IMDb, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, is a series that revolves around Jake Peralta, a part of the New York City Police Department. He often comes into conflict with his commanding officer, Captain Raymond Holt. While it might sound like any other detective shows, it puts light on the portrayal of LGBTQ+ characters. The show has received positive reviews throughout its time and is a must-watch. 2. Schitt's Creek © Netflix We have often heard people rave about Schitt's Creek. As someone who recently binge-watched this show, Schitt's Creek has a brilliant storyline. The story talks about the Rose family, who lose their fortune after the business manager defrauds them. The family then settles in a motel but works hard to earn back their life. David Rose, essayed by Daniel Levy is a pansexual character, who falls for a man later. His relationship receives complete acceptance and no raised eyebrows from the people of the town. 3. Atypical © Netflix Atypical released on Netflix in 2017, and the show takes you through an emotional ride. It's based on the life of an 18-year-old, Sam, who is suffering from spectrum disorder. The lead is in a quest to find himself. His younger sister plays the role of Casey, who holds her family together and keeps her sexuality a secret. The story unfolds more into love, independence and the topic of sexuality. 4. *** Education © Netflix If you haven't watched it already, add this to your list right away. *** Education is a Netflix original series, a coming-of-age dramedy. The show received praises for its representation of sensitive subjects and has a diverse take on the LGBTQ+ community. The story is about a teenager who lives with his *** therapist mother and it talks about his friendship with gay character Eric. The series earned more than 40 million streams at the time of its release and became a successful show. 5. Sense8 © Netflix Another high rated, queer-friendly show is Sense8. It's a story about eight individuals who embark on their journey and discover that they are 'sensates' connected emotionally and mentally. The show gets intense with each season and is quite famous for its no-holds-barred concept. The show ran for two seasons, after several controversies. 6. The Half Of It © Netflix The Half Of it focuses on a lesbian love story. The American comedy-drama is about three characters in their teens. Paul is attracted to Aster and hires Ellie to write her letters and text messages. Soon Ellie starts developing feelings for Aster. The show unravels drama and romance and is the best modern-day queer series to watch. 7. Star Trek: Discovery © Netflix For the first time, the franchise made headlines for its queer drama. The show boldly presents the life of a gay couple, Lt. Paul Stamets and Dr Hugh Culber. The duo also locked lips during the show's mid-season finale, which also made it the first gay kiss ever in the Star Trek Franchise. 8. Someone Has to DieReleased in 2020, Someone Has to Die is set in the 1950s. The show talks about the alleged relationship between Gabino, who arrives home to his traditional Falcón family, with a male ballet dancer. The Spanish thriller was lauded for its script on homophobia amid the Franco regime. View the full article

  4. There is no denying the fact that Inception is an immaculately made film, and perhaps will go down in history as one of the best films ever to have been made in that particular genre. The beauty of the film lies in the fact that even 10 years after its initial release, people are still fascinated by the last twist that Nolan throws in. © Legendary Pictures That scene itself has been the subject of heated debate on the Internet for years and will continue to be a topic of discussion perhaps for decades to come. With that being said that, there are a few Bollywood films as well that tried to use this climax twists, and did a fairly good job. © Viacom 18 No we are not saying that they were as good as Inception, but they came pretty damn close. Here are the five Bollywood films that had great climax twists, and stood at par with Nolanâs masterpiece. Again, almost. Talaash To this day, Talaash remains one of the best psychologically challenging films we have made. Pretty much for the entirety of the film, the plot proceeds as a typical crime thriller, set in Mumbai. However, the revelation that comes at the end of the film had audiences gasping in disbelief. It pretty much changed the film and its perception hitherto, on its head. If you havenât watched the film, get out of under the rock that you have been living, and go watch it. You will be in for a treat, trust us. Kahaani This Sujoy Ghosh film has perhaps one of the best cinematic depictions of Kolkata. It showed all the aspects of Kolkata as they are - laidback, lazy, grimy, and yet somehow managing to be the city of joy. The manner in which Vidya Balan and her character faked the pregnancy while searching for her husband was something that the audiences were simply not prepared for. Furthermore, the film was beautifully shot and had tight storytelling. Add to this the stellar performances by actors like Parambrata Chatterjee, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Indraneil Sengupta. Kahaani just goes on to show that indeed we can make a fine mystery thriller. And climax twists? We just aced it with this one. Drishyam Surprisingly Drishyam somehow makes the cut. We say surprisingly because we pretty much know the outcome of the film, what had happened, and that the family in question was indeed guilty. However, given the manner in which Ajay Devgn deconstructed police investigations and emerged a step ahead of them, made the film the cult classic that It is. Pretty much everyone who saw the film speculated that the body of the boy must have been destroyed in some way or the other. However, the revelation that the body was buried under the police station, coupled with the final dialogue of the film gives the cinematic experience a whole new meaning. No wonder that this is one of the finest crime to love and India has ever made. A Wednesday Do we really need to explain why A Wednesday makes this list? While watching the film pretty much everyone had assumed that the Naseeruddin Shah was linked to some terrorist organisation and does everything to set the terrorists free. However, the plot twist under which he gets all the terrorists killed and reveals himself to be a regular common old man, who was probably nearing his retirement, left us all with a pit in our stomach. It did not take us even a minute to start feeling sorry for the man and be proud of him. Although not technically a film that was a thriller of any kind, it certainly made a huge impact on the psyche of the people that watched the film. Moreover, it gave the perception of the common man a much-needed makeover. Ugly Ugly genuinely is a masterpiece of a film. Of course, there were some issues with the film, but the direction and the stellar performances that we see in the film are more than enough to make up for them. And oh man, Ronit Roy as a gritty police officer is just spectacular. The end of the film is something that the audience does not see coming, and from what we can tell, neither do any of the characters. Just give it a watch, will you? This sorts out our weekend. What about yours? View the full article
  5. Being able to use a high-end TV is a surreal experience, let alone experiencing the best viewing experience on a display. We were invited to check out Samsung's “The Wall” that starts at Rs 3.5 crore and goes all the way up to Rs 12 Crore depending on your size preference. It is definitely not meant for the average household and is more of a luxury viewing experience for the affluent. The version we tested can support up to 4K resolution which is 3.7 meters (146-inch) in size. The top model has support for up to 8K resolution. If you want to experience The Wall for yourself, you will not be able to visit any Samsung store as it can be exclusively experienced only at Samsung's headquarters. © MensXP_Akshay Bhalla While using The Wall, the first thing you will notice is the sheer size of the display. It literally covers up an entire wall, hence the name. If you have extra space, you can always get a bigger model depending on the size of your wall. The beauty of The Wall is that it uses Samsung's modular MicroLED display which means you can increase the size whenever you want. Unlike modern televisions, The Wall is completely bezel-less and does not have a frame. It is 30mm in depth and the outer frame can be customised with different textures. © MensXP_Akshay Bhalla In terms of the specifications, The Wall has a peak brightness level of 2,000 nits and has a refresh rate of 120Hz. The higher refresh rate on the display helps in two scenarios, stutter-free and smooth live sports viewing experience and fast reaction times when playing games. The higher refresh rate is probably the most under-rated and the least talked about feature of the display. Samsung says that The Wall Uses Quantum HDR technology, AI upscaling and Chroma Max technology to improve the overall picture quality. While using The Wall, we can confirm that the colours were popping, vivid and rich enough to make theatre-quality image look redundant. The picture quality was anything like we've seen on a display before and we've experienced the Samsung Onyx Theatres as well. HDR capabilities are most noticeable in games and we played Forza Horizon 4 on an Xbox One S to see how HDR comes into play on this display. We've played the game on PC before but the game looked absolutely beautiful on The Wall. The game had better contrast than our PC version of the game we've tested on OLED TVs. Overall, it looked more immersive than usual as it was brighter and the colours had a wider range/depth. Usually, games look the same with minor differences on high-end TVs and monitors but Forza Horizon 4 looked like a completely different game on The Wall. © MensXP_Akshay Bhalla Having a display the size of a wall can be a bit distracting and to counter this problem, Samsung has included an Ambient Mode in the software. This turns the display into a piece of art or runs live wallpapers to make the large display feel less awkward. Users can choose art content such as Decor, Nature or even camouflage the display entirely by capturing the textures of your room's wall via a Samsung tablet. © MensXP_Akshay Bhalla © MensXP_Akshay Bhalla For users who like to watch movies and tv shows, just like Samsung Smart TVs, The Wall comes with native support for Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Plex, Zee5, Apple TV, and other applications that can be downloaded from the Samsung app store. All of these modes can be triggered easily from the dedicated remote that communicated with a box that houses all the connections for the display. The Wall is definitely not an experience that can be replicated by any other television or display and is reserved for the affluent. Having said that, Samsung backs its asking price for The Wall with an experience that can't be matched by anything you have seen so far. It was a once in a lifetime experience for us and we can confidently say that this technology is the future of home entertainment that might become mainstream in the next decade. 6. Anthony J. Russo and Joseph Vincent Russo are the people who have been the nerdy yet fantastic brains behind the process of taking the amalgamated Marvel Cinematic Universe to the next level of epic-ness when they were given the responsibility of making one of the most important characters of the MCU likable again with 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier'. So it is safe to say that the two bros know exactly what they were doing during the events of 'Avengers: Endgame'. They even shot multiple endings to continue to keep the cast and crew confused about the real manner in which the film would conclude just to avoid leaks and spoilers. Having said that, they were themselves confused between two endings in particular but finally decided to go ahead with the one that we got to see in the theatres (hopefully). In the official ending, Tony Stark takes away the Infinity Stones from Thanos, puts them in the Infinity Gauntlet of his own and snaps his fingers to decimate the Mad Titan and the rest of his Chitauri army. Overwhelmed with the Stones, Stark suffers irreversible damage while protecting trillions of others spread around the universe and peacefully passes away amidst Peter Potts, Peter Parker and the rest of his closest buddies. However, according to the details disclosed by the Russo brothers recently, the alternate ending would have taking Stark's consciousness to the 'Soul Stone' realm after the snap, just like Thanos did at the end of Infinity War and met a young Gamora. There, Stark would have met his an adult version of his daughter, Morgan Stark, played by '13 Reason Why' star, Katherine Langford who would have forgiven him for taking the lives of Thanos and his army because it was done to protect the rest of the universe. According to the directors, the scene would have complicated the movie for the audience furthermore and they wanted to shoot Iron Man's final scene with faces the audience was already familiar with, in order to make it more emotional and personal instead of Langford, whom people would have seen for the very first time in the MCU. Having said that, the fact that the Russo Bros cared so deeply about the character of a grown up Morgan suggests a very interesting theory about the post credit scene of Endgame. After the credits roll over the screen, we get to hear the sound of someone hammering metal. This is the exact sound bite from the very first Iron Man movie when Stark makes his very first suit, the Mark 1, to get out of the hands of the terrorist group known as Ten Rings. Now, according to the Russo brothers, the idea of putting this sound bite at the end came directly from Kevin Feige, who is probably the only constant member of the MCU who worked from behind-the-scenes in every movie made by Marvel. Maybe, Feige wanted to hint the audience about the possibility of the return of Iron Man during Phase 4 of the MCU, but not with Tony Stark as the person inside the suit, but with his daughter, Morgan Stark. Maybe, this is why the Russo brothers also wanted to introduce Katherine Langford's character into the MCU at the end of Phase 3 so that the people know who to cheer for when she dons a badass suit, swooping past her fellow Avengers on an AC/DC song, just like her father used to.
  7. Microsoft showed off its Project xCloud and gave a first look of the service working in action. The company has been developing a cloud-based game streaming platform for a while, which is expected to be the future of gaming. Microsoft is already planning to stream games that are made for the Xbox One and is also planning to launch a disc-less console soon. © YouTube As part of the demo, we can clearly see Forza Horizon 4 running in a data centre and being streamed to an Android smartphone. The game is being controlled by an Xbox One controller via Bluetooth. “Anywhere we have a good network connection, we'll be able to participate in Project xCloud,” Microsoft head of gaming cloud Kareem Choudhry said in the video Choudary also went on to explain that Project xCloud will work similar to music or video streaming services i.e you can log in from any device i.e. a phone or even a laptop and find the library similar to music libraries. Basically, this service will work on any device that has a screen and play demanding games on the fly. © Microsoft The service will also give you access to your cloud saves, friend lists and everything that users are already familiar with on the Xbox One. However, Choudry went on to say that “It's not a replacement for consoles, we're not getting out of the console business,” © Microsoft Game streaming services are being touted as the future of gaming thanks to new technologies like 5G and cloud computing. Google is also launching its own game streaming service next week at GDC 2019. Microsoft already offers a subscription service in the form of Xbox Game Pass where users can play Xbox One and Xbox 360 games for Rs 699 per month.
  8. Bose is exceedingly popular for its QuietComfort headphones that offer best-in-class noise cancellation. The technology is far superior to the competition and many airlines even provide these to premium passengers to vacuum out cabin noise. Today, the manufacturer has announced a new noise cancellation solution called QuietComfort Road Noise Control (RNC) as part of its active sound management technology. This technology is designed to reduce road noise, and make your travelling experience smoother. © MensXP According to Bose, its new sound-cancelling system utilizes a combination of accelerometers, proprietary signal-processing software, microphones and the vehicle's audio system to electronically combat unwanted sounds. The new system joins Bose's existing Engine Harmonic Enhancement and Engine Harmonic Cancellation. The system is able to minimize “unwanted sounds” in the car's cabin caused by driving over rough roads, grooved concrete and uneven pavement. The system adapts to road noise levels throughout the trip, adjusting as necessary for changes that result from different road surfaces, speeds, and similar things. For external detection, the car is fitted with various accelerometers that measure vibrations caused by the road or terrain. For internals, a set of microphones constantly monitor noise levels for future optimizations. The whole process of noise identification and cancellation is continuous and adjusts over a period of time. Bose says the RNC system will be available with or without the company's premium audio systems, and they will be collaborating with manufacturers during the development process. © Bose The brand already offers a sound management solution called Engine Harmonic Cancellation (EHC), but it is limited to reducing the leakage of engine noise into the main cabin. RNC solution is expected to start appearing in cars starting from 2021 and will work with cars that don't even have Bose's own audio system. © Reuters Thanks to electric vehicles, the amount of noise generated while moving is minimal. Even internal combustion engines have been getting more silent thanks to hybrid setups. Electronically controlled noise cancellation comes handy because the conventional method requires insulation and isolation, adding more weight to the vehicle. "But we know it's much more difficult to control noise in a large space like a car cabin compared to the relatively small area around your ears. However, through research advances and our relentless efforts to solve tough problems, we've achieved a level of road noise reduction that sets Bose apart from competitive offerings,” said John Feng, manager, Bose Automotive, Active Sound Management Solutions.
  9. The final trailer of the much-awaited 'Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them: The Crimes Of Grindelwald' is out, and Potterheads are in a frenzy right now. Fans have been freaking out about a new revelation in the trailer, and it just reiterates our belief, that when it comes to weaving a story that will engulf you into its layered depths, till you're completely submerged and are gasping for that elusive bit of clarity, all the while enjoying your whirlwind ride in its quest through the story, JK Rowling is undoubtedly the mother of them all. While the trailer gave us a lot to talk about, let's focus on the biggest, most obvious bomb it dropped - the truth about Nagini's mysterious past. © YouTube © YouTube From the trailer, it became obvious that Nagini, the huge, terrifying snake that's also Voldemort's loyal pet and the last Horcrux, wasn't just a regular snake. She used to be a woman, who was very much human. The first guess of fans, obviously, was that Nagini was an Animagus, but Rowling was quick to quash that theory and clarified, that Nagini wasn't an Animagus, but a 'Maledictus' instead. © Twitter For the uninitiated, an 'Animagus' is a witch or wizard with the rare ability to transform into a particular animal at will. A 'Maledictus', on the other hand, is a female individual who is a carrier of a blood curse that would eventually lead her to turn into a beast. The curse is carried from birth and is passed down from mother to daughter. Rowling clarified this after a fan asked her whether Lycanthropy (the transformation of a person into a wolf, one that werewolves go through) was related to the condition. © Twitter About the etymology of the word 'Maledictus', Mal- is a prefix of Latin origin meaning "bad", "wrongful", or "ill". Dictus in Latin means "spoken". Roughly translated, Maledictus could mean "spoken ill of" or "cursed". However, could it also have another hidden connotation? Perhaps something related to - one who can speak 'bad' or 'evil'? Perhaps, wait for it, Parseltongue? Given Nagini was a woman who could transform into a snake, and eventually went over to its irreversible form, she had to be a Parselmouth. Also, as we all know, 'Nagini' or 'Nagin' refers to a female snake or a woman who can transform into a snake at will. Let's just say, Rowling + Etymological/Linguistic Symbolism = Goosebumps. © Twitter Now, let's move over to why this new revelation is more twisted than meets the eye. As no one knows the story yet, let us just put forth some questions that the fandom is crazily invested in at the moment: 1. Were Credence and Nagini a couple? In the poster, we can see them sitting together, like a couple. © Twitter Credence joined the Arcanus Circus because of his capabilities as an Obscurus, and Nagini was already a part of it as 'The enchanting snake girl'. They probably sought comfort in each other, while fighting their respective battles? © Twitter 2. Was Voldemort's pet Nagini the same Nagini we see in the trailer? Or was she the possible daughter of Credence and Nagini- the one in the trailer? We know that a mother Maledictus passes it on to her daughter, after all. 3. What was Voldemort's relationship with Nagini? Was it only of a master and his pet? Or was it more than meets the eye? He was extremely fond of her, and that probably had more to do with her being a Horcrux. Is there a history? Could she still have been a human when he found her in Albania? Or had she already irreversibly transformed into her snake self? © Twitter 4. Actress Claudia Kim has mentioned that Nagini wasn't always evil, and that we will get to see a humane and vulnerable side of her in the movie - that of a girl who wanted to stay human. Did she continue to not be evil post her transformation? Did Voldemort convert her into a murderous serpent once he turned her into a Horcrux? What did he mean when he asked Wormtail to 'milk' Nagini? All we can say is that our minds are blown, and we need answers. If you can't wait for the movie, high five! *Screams internally* Here's the trailer.

You must be living under a rock if you haven't watched the last four seasons of ‘House Of Cards'. The makers were so insistent on casting Spacey that they were considering dumping the show, had he not come on board! Wow! 2. ‘House Of Cards’ Is Based On A 1990 BBC Miniseries Trigger Street Productions Did you know ‘House of Cards’ is actually based on a 1990 BBC miniseries of the same name?
