All good things happen to those who wait. And a 2-year wait is what it took to make Dune a force to reckon with, quite literally! Touted as one of the biggest films of 2021, Dune is the first of a two-part adaptation of the 1965 novel by Frank Herbert, primarily covering the first half of the book. Even though there was a vision to rely on, it wasn’t always easy to bring it to life. Calling this project one of his most ambitious works of all time, Denis Villeneuve, the director and screenwriter of this movie is enthralled by the response. View this post on Instagram Costumes & Makeup Took Hours And An Army The exceptional Stellan Skarsgård, who plays Harkonnen in the movie, spent almost a quarter of his time on the makeup chair. Yup, we’re talking about 8 hours every day. Apart from that, the entire crew spent a lot of time and effort curating all individual looks. Costume designers, Jacqueline West and Bob Morgan created over a thousand costumes taking inspiration from Greek and Roman mythology. The suits or their armour were actually live cast on the actors making them a well fit for each character. Dune was among one of the big 2020 movies that saw its release date delayed due to the pandemic. With a budget of over 165 Million Dollars, it was decided that the stellar novel cannot be depicted in just one movie. While Dennis started writing the movie in 2018, it actually took him one year to get it going. He signed a two-movie deal with Warner Brothers Studio in 2019 and began his search.
