  2. The vaccinated Americans want all other citizens to get Covid shots at the earliest to contain the pandemic in the country
  3. Only vaccinated persons in Sindh can travel in passenger buses, check into hotels, attend outdoor wedding functions
  4. Per the guidelines, new variants of the novel coronavirus are spreading rapidly, therefore, it is crucial to control the number of transmissions
  5. "Pakistan's first priority, at present, is to confront and conquer the COVID-19 pandemic," says PM Imran Khan
  6. Thai embassy in New Delhi says certificates of entry for non-Thai nationals traveling from India will be suspended until further notice
  7. Kerala was the first Indian state to report a positive COVID-19 case when a 33-year-old salesman who had returned from a recent trip to Dubai landed in Kerala with coronavirus-like symptoms. He was taken for sample collection and allowed to go back home to his village on the condition that he self-isolates for 14 days, and stays away from his family. The man followed every advice and upon testing positive went to the hospital and recovered. © Twitter Today the village of Chengala has 22 confirmed COVID-19 cases and over 400 people in quarantine. But that hasnât deterred the villagers' confidence because the village heads and joint-council worked proactively to prepare for the outbreak at the grassroot level. There is active testing for villagers, hospital facilities for the infected to get treated and packaged food from the community kitchens for those who are in isolation. Residents and migrant workers are well-fed and health officials ensure that people take their medication on time. © BCCL Thatâs just one example of how Kerala is working to flatten the curve. Kerala is a tourist hotspot and sees a lot of people crossing its borders in search of work. But despite its 370 confirmed cases, Kerala has managed to flatten the curve to a great extent with other states reporting more number of cases now. What did the administration get right? Apart from ensuring strict imposition of lockdown, the state is thorough about contact tracing. Kerala has dedicated Covid-19 care centres in every district for outsiders who have been stuck and need to isolate. Health workers care for the differently-abled and the elderly. © Twitter No one is left behind, and Kerala continues to test more and more people on a regular basis. But what experts feel made the biggest difference was the fact that the state government under the aegis of CM Pinarayi Vijayan worked at the grassroots level involving the village councils. The next factor is Keralaâs healthcare system which has proved its mettle during this time of crisis. Talking about how Keralaâs medical system has come through amid the coronavirus outbreak in the southern state, neurosurgeon B Ekbal told BBC journalist Soutik Biswas, "A strong game-changer was the decentralised health care system. And village councils took upon themselves to enforce and monitor mass quarantine with the consent of the people. The shutdown also helped.â © BCCL Sharing this recent development, Anand Mahindra took to his Twitter account and shared his joy over the prospect of seeing Kerala become the first Indian state to flatten the curve and contain the COVID-19 infection in the state. He also added that he is tired of reading about how South Korea and other nations are managing the outbreak, and cannot wait to brag about his own southern state. ð¼ð¼ð¼ If the curve stays flat, Kerala will be a shining example for the world in managing Covid. Tired of reading about S.Korea & other examples of how to manage the pandemic. @vijayanpinarayi Coronavirus: How India's Kerala state 'flattened the curve' https://t.co/K2WR7spWvC â anand mahindra (@anandmahindra) April 17, 2020 We agree with you Mr Mahindra because Kerala has surely shown the rest of the country how to go about tackling the outbreak and work efficiently to not only trace and eliminate it, but also care for those who cannot care for themselves. Right from mobilising management at the ground level, to ensuring active testing and tracing of possible infection carriers and providing citizens with proper care facilities, Kerala is truly a shining example in Indiaâs fight against the coronavirus outbreak. 11. A burnt vehicle is seen on Quinlans street after an overnight bushfire in Quaama in Australia`s New South Wales state on 6 January. Photo: AFPFirefighters raced to quell massive bushfires in southeastern Australia Tuesday, taking advantage of a brief drop in temperatures and some much-needed rainfall before another heatwave strikes later this week. Exhausted volunteers fixed containment lines, cleared ground vegetation and carried out controlled burns before temperatures and winds were expected to pick up again by Friday. "It really is about shoring up protection to limit the damage potential and the outbreak of the fires over the coming days," said New South Wales Rural Fire Service commissioner Shane Fitzsimmons. He described current conditions as "much more favourable" but warned "we are expecting hotter weather to return later in the week". Dozens of vast blazes continue to burn out of control across the east of the country and there are growing fears that two fires in New South Wales and Victoria could connect to form another uncontrollable megablaze. Rainfall on Monday offered modest relief, but it was not heavy enough to extinguish the fires, and in some places it hampered firefighters' preparations by making back-burning more difficult. Twenty-five people have died since the start of the disaster in September, more than 1,800 homes have been destroyed, and some eight million hectares (80,000 square kilometres) has burned, an area the size of Ireland or South Carolina. Smoke from the fires has been spotted more than 12,000 kilometres (7,400 miles) away in Chile and Argentina, weather authorities in the South American countries said. The cost of the disaster is still not clear, but the Insurance Council of Australia said claims worth Aus$700 million ($485 million) had already been filed and the figure was expected to climb significantly. The government has earmarked an initial Aus$2 billion ($1.4 billion) for a national recovery fund to help devastated communities. The human toll was again laid bare Tuesday, as firefighters held a memorial in Sydney for 36-year-old colleague Andrew O'Dwyer who died battling blazes in late December. Volunteers in bright orange fire suits lined the road as his cortege passed — with the coffin draped in a Rural Fire Service flag. Glimmers of hope Conditions in the next week are not expected to match the worst days of the crisis, but Fitzsimmons told public broadcaster ABC it was important not to "get lulled into a false sense of security". Many of the blazes are too big to be put out, so only sustained rainfall would end the crisis. "It was nice to see a cyclone forming. I shouldn't say — hopefully no damage — but it was nice to see a cyclone forming up the top end of (Western Australia)," said Fitzsimmons. "Hopefully (it is) a signal that we may see monsoon activity which will disrupt the dominant hot air mass continuing to influence so much of the weather."
  12. It's been almost four years since we've seen a brand new Halo game ever since 'Halo 5: Guardians'. 'Halo Infinite', is one of the most awaited follow-ups in the Halo franchise and we will finally get to see it at E3 2019. © 343 Industries 343 Industries, the studio that took charge of the 'Halo' franchise after Bungie, is going to be present at E3 later this year. Bonnie Ross, 343 Industries boss told IGN that the game director Chris Lee will discuss more details about the upcoming game in June. Currently, not much is known about 'Halo: Infinite, however, Ross did confirm that the game director will be discussing the new engine i.e. “SlipSpace”. 'Halo Infinite' was first announced at E3 2018 via a teaser that showed off the game's new engine's capabilities. The trailer showed a big space with warthog travelling the environment. It had beautiful vistas and massive landscapes. Since it was a teaser, we can't be entirely sure if this would be the end result in the full game. Having said that, it would be nice to see how the game has been shaping up in the past year. E3 is still one of the biggest gaming events where new games and products are announced. Since there is 'Infinite' in the title, we're expecting the new Halo game to be a big affair. It's also rumoured that Microsoft will announce two new consoles this year for the next generation. Halo Infinite's launch may also coincide with the launch of new consoles. © 343 Industries 'Halo Infinite' is expected to have RPG-style mechanics and is expected to be a “spiritual reboot” of the franchise. The game is expected to launch for Xbox One, PC and possibly the next-gen consoles. We will know more about 'Halo Infinite' later this year during E3, which is scheduled to commence on June 11th. 15. Sonu Nigam has been MIA for a while now. Even though every '90s kid still thrives on his music, the man himself doesn't seem to be making a lot of public appearances anymore. But just like his music, he does know how to make, and also leave an impression with his clothes. His latest appearance in a pair of harem pants just proved it. Take a look. © Viral Bhayani Harem pants are grossly underrated. They are comfortable, allow movement, allow ventilation, and most importantly, look fashionable AF - what's not to like? Also, they are just the stitched, more compact cousin of our very own Dhoti. Why people don't wear them, like all the time, will probably be a mystery we can't manage to solve. © Viral Bhayani Even though they have ended up as a 'Hippie' staple, thanks to the collective affinity of tourists all over towards the functional perks of the garment, it does have the potential to come at the fashion forefront, and Mr Nigam here just proved it. © Viral Bhayani Coming to the outfit, we like how he has kept it simple by choosing to wear a plain white T-shirt on top of the maroon harem pants. The scarf in a matching shade of maroon is adding that extra flair that a casual outfit like this warrants, to avoid falling in the category of 'bland'. © Viral Bhayani We like the sporty edge brought in by the baseball cap, although we aren't quite sure about it being white. His footwear is also on point, when it comes to both style and comfort. © Viral Bhayani Coming to accessories, he has pretty much nailed it. This is perhaps the only outfit that looks flattering with the overload of beads and bracelets. He is even wearing a 'Rudraaksh' on his neck. Let's just say Sonu, along with releasing more music, you should make more public appearances because you clearly know the drill.
  16. I am sure that you're aware of the fact that your body needs the energy to digest the food that you eat. Therefore, your body burns calories while it makes an effort to digest it. So, wouldn't it make more sense to consume more 'calorie-less' foods if your target is to lose fat and weight? After all, the more calorie deficit you create, the more reason you give your body to utilize all the stored fat reserves in the body. Though there isn't any food item that has zero calories as such, there are certain food items that have less number of calories than what your body needs to burn. Following is the list of such food items: 1) Beets © Pixabay Easily available at your nearby vegetable market, beets serve as a very good option to be taken as a part of a salad or to prepare them as cooked vegetables. Beets have only 55 calories per cup of around 130 grams. A cup of beets is enough to douse your hunger pangs for some time, while hardly adding anything to your calorie intake for the day. 2) Carrots © Pixabay Available in two colors, orange and red, carrots have only 50 calories in a serving of about 120 grams. A one-cup serving of carrots also fulfills your daily requirement of vitamin A by more than a hundred percent. Carrots can also be used as part of regular green salads or could be cooked with other vegetables. 3) Cucumbers © Pixabay This vegetable is consumed on a large scale in urban as well as rural areas, due to its easy availability and low pricing. Since they are mostly water, a single serving of cucumber gives you only 10 calories from 50 grams of cucumber. You can use them as a side dish with your other food items to increase the satiety index of the food, while keeping your calorie intake in check. 4) Iceberg Lettuce © Pixabay A standard for every Caesar salad, lettuce is one of the healthiest calorie-less food items. It is rich in vitamin A, K and also has good folate content in it. A single bowl serving of around 70 grams of lettuce has only 10 calories. Lettuce can easily be added to salads and sandwiches and offers great taste too. 5) Mushrooms © Pixabay A meat substitute for vegetarians, mushrooms can be cooked in various delicious ways. A cup of 70 grams of a serving of mushrooms gives you only 15 calories. Its easy availability also makes it a good choice for diet conscious people. 6) Zucchini © Pixabay Another low-calorie vegetable that's commonly used in soups and salads; Zucchini has only 15 calories in one serving of 120 grams. It can also be used in preparing sandwiches to enhance the flavor or can be added in chicken Caesar or veg Caesar salads. 7) Spinach © Pixabay Spinach has a good amount of Vitamin K, A and folate and is also high in protein than the majority of the green vegetables out there. Two cups of serving of spinach weighing around 100 grams have only about 25 calories. Spinach can be cooked with cottage cheese as part of gravy dishes or can be consumed in the form of soups. Make sure that you follow a structured diet along with the above food items in your daily diet regime. This should be complemented with a good workout program at least 5 days a week so see better results. 20. PARIS: People may be ingesting between 3,000 and 4,000 microparticles of plastic from tap water every year, said a study Wednesday based on samples from 14 countries. While the health risks are unknown, the researchers pointed to previous findings that plastic particles can absorb, and release, potentially harmful chemicals and bacteria. For the survey, 159 tap water samples were analysed of which "83 percent were found to contain plastic particles," researchers from the University of Minnesota and the State University of New York wrote in a report entitled: "Invisibles: The plastic inside us". While much research has focused on plastic pollution of lakes, rivers, the ocean, beaches, even the air we breathe, less attention has been paid to its presence in human consumables, said the team. This was the first study to look at micro-plastics in drinking water, they added. Samples were collected in the first three months of the year in Kampala, Uganda; New Delhi, India; Jakarta, Indonesia; Beirut, Lebanon; Quito, Ecuador; several cities in the United States and in seven European countries. All were sent to the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, for lab testing. By far the majority of particles found were fibres ranging from 0.1 to five millimetres (0.004-0.2 inches) in length. The range was from zero to 57 particles per litre of water, with an average of 4.34 particles per litre. "The highest density of plastic per volume of tap water was found in North America and the lowest densities were found, collectively, in seven European countries," wrote the team. More research needed Based on liquid consumption of three litres (6.3 US pints) per day, as recommended, a man may consume as many as 14 plastic particles daily if his chosen beverages were tap water or made with tap water, said the authors. For women, this would amount to about 10 particles for an intake of 2.2 litres. "These daily doses add up to an annual total of over 4,000 for men and over 3,000 for women," wrote the team. "These plastic particles are in addition to plastics potentially consumed in other products, such as sea salt, beer and seafood." A study in January said a European shellfish consumer may be ingesting up to 11,000 micro plastics per year from that source alone. The researchers used the same plastic containers in which the samples were collected to test treated water from the lab, to rule out plastic contamination from the bottle itself. "The results of this study serve... as an initial glimpse at the consequences of human plastic use (and) disposal rather than a comprehensive assessment of global plastic contamination," the team concluded. They called for further tests to gather more data about potential pollution sources and pathways, as well as the risks to human health. Micro-plastics are less than 5 mm long, about the size of a sesame seed. They come in the form of "micro-beads" used in scrubs and toothpaste, and can also be created when larger pieces of plastic waste degrade.
  21. 'Pyaar Ka Punchnama' is one of those films that will always remain with the millennial. From script to the dialogues everything in the picture felt so relatable and realistic that you can watch it whenever it airs on the TV. The combination of Kartik Aaryan, Nushrat Bharucha, and Sunny Singh was spot on that it become a super hit film. Now, won’t we love to see Anshul, Chiku and Chauka ganging up again to tease our funnybones? Well, we have a news: The 'Pyaar Ka Punchnama' team is coming back for a new rom-com flick. The title of the film was announced via video, that left us wanting for more. Titled 'Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety', the film is supposed to be a three-film franchise. © Youtube This time filmmaker Luv Rajan is all set to entertain us with a new age love triangle all set to be shot in Uttar Pradesh and Delhi. This is the fourth time we will be seeing this cast together. The director has earlier shared, “When Bhushan approached me after PKP 2 what was exciting was his belief in my kind of films. Given producer Bhushan’s excellent sense of music, and unparalleled marketing muscle, I couldn’t have asked for a better association.” It is a treat to watch this trio arguing in the video. The film is set to hit the theatres on November 3. Let’s hope even this time they are able to cast their humour spell like they have done in the past.
