  3. Over the years, Bollywood or the Hindi film industry has produced a number of cult comedy classics that never fail to entertain us and leave us split. Back in the ‘60s & ‘70s, the humour in Hindi films used to be situational which changed to slapstick and physical in the ‘90s & early ‘00s. Some of the most loved comedy films of all time in the Hindi film industry include Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi, Chupke Chupke, Golmaal, Andaz Apna Apna, Dulhe Raja, Hera Pheri, Hungama, Hulchul, Malamaal Weekly, Dhamaal & Welcome among others. However, unfortunately, some of the most popular and hilarious comedy scenes in these films weren’t original and were blatantly lifted from Hollywood and other international films. Here’s a look at 5 such iconic comedy scenes in Bollywood that were copied: 1. Dhamaal (2007) © maruti International Directed by Indra Kumar, there is not much original about this 2007 cult hit. While its basic plot is lifted from It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World & Rat Race, the gags in the film were lifted directly from multiple international films. Remember the car jump scene in the film? Well, that was taken as it is from the 2000 film Road Trip. Watch the two scenes below: Similarly, the intro scene of Riteish Deshmukh’s character was taken from Rowan Atkinson’s Johnny English. Check it out below: 2. Malamaal Weekly (2006) © Sahara One Motion Pictures There is a highly hilarious scene towards the climax of the film where Rajpal Yadav’s character sits on a cycle that is without its seat. Well, that sequence is lifted from Jackie Chan’s 1983 film Project A. Check out both the scenes below: 3. Deewane Huye Paagal (2005) © UTV Motion Pictures The main plot of the film was lifted from the 1998 film There’s Something About Mary and so were its comedy scenes. There is a sequence in the film where Akshay Kumar’s character accidentally kills Rimi Sen’s character’s pet dog. Check out both the copied & the original scene below: 4. Housefull (2010) © Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment In the first half of this Sajid Khan directorial, there is a scene where Akshay Kumar gets involved in a slap battle with a monkey. The scene was the highlight of the film but was far from original. It was lifted from Ben Stiller’s comedy movie Night At The Museum. Check out the two scenes below: 5. Om Shanti Om (2007) © Red Chillies Entertainment Akshay Kumar’s cameo scene in Shah Rukh Khan’s Om Shanti Om where we see footage of him shooting at robbers is actually taken as it is from the 2003 Swedish comedy film Kopps. Check out the scenes below: View the full article
  4. All good things happen to those who wait. And a 2-year wait is what it took to make Dune a force to reckon with, quite literally! Touted as one of the biggest films of 2021, Dune is the first of a two-part adaptation of the 1965 novel by Frank Herbert, primarily covering the first half of the book. Even though there was a vision to rely on, it wasn’t always easy to bring it to life. Calling this project one of his most ambitious works of all time, Denis Villeneuve, the director and screenwriter of this movie is enthralled by the response. Nominated for 10 Oscar awards, this movie is unmissable. Thanks to Amazon Prime Video, we can now watch this sci-fi marvel at the comfort of our living rooms. Set in the far future, the film follows Paul Atreides as his family, the House Atreides, is thrust into a war for the deadly and desert planet, Arrakis. The stellar ensemble cast includes Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Zendaya, David Dastmalchian, Chang Chen, Sharon Duncan-Brewster, Charlotte Rampling, Jason Momoa, and Javier Bardem. … and while good things take time - it also takes an army to make them happen. Here are some fun facts and a little sneak peek into the making of this edge-of-the-seat adventure. Arrakis Isn’t What It Looks Like… You’d think that a virtual planet would be all green screens and an indoor studio, right? NOPE! Villeneuve is a visionary who took his cast to the deserts of Jordan and Abu Dhabi where he made a movie that creates an experience that the cast fondly talks about to date. Timothee Chalamet talks about shooting at over 50 degrees in the blazing sun on some of the most difficult terrains of the world. But also calls it an experience of a lifetime! The indoor sets like the Emperors’ Palace were constructed in Budapest and even though CGI (Computer Generated Imagery) was widely used, the props were mostly practical. Talk about living a movie, eh? View this post on Instagram From The Ships To The Sandworm Effects, Everything Was Created Paul Lambert, a two-time Oscar winner for VFX, was in charge of the visuals in Dune. From creating giant platforms in the middle of the desert to creating ships, most of the things were manually created to create the captivating scenes in this movie. Every work of art was created by his team keeping in mind the land of Arrakis and its people. View this post on Instagram Costumes & Makeup Took Hours And An Army The exceptional Stellan Skarsgård, who plays Harkonnen in the movie, spent almost a quarter of his time on the makeup chair. Yup, we’re talking about 8 hours every day. Apart from that, the entire crew spent a lot of time and effort curating all individual looks. Costume designers, Jacqueline West and Bob Morgan created over a thousand costumes taking inspiration from Greek and Roman mythology. The suits or their armour were actually live cast on the actors making them a well fit for each character. Dune was among one of the big 2020 movies that saw its release date delayed due to the pandemic. With a budget of over 165 Million Dollars, it was decided that the stellar novel cannot be depicted in just one movie. While Dennis started writing the movie in 2018, it actually took him one year to get it going. He signed a two-movie deal with Warner Brothers Studio in 2019 and began his search. All the characters are well thought off and apt and the planning of executing them the perfect way took almost a year. Step into the world of this mystical little land on Amazon Prime Video and have your weekend sorted! View the full article
  5. Emraan Hashmi, who was last seen in Dybbuk, is known as a hardworking actor who shines in whatever movie he stars in. Besides delivering strong performances, he also got the tag of Bollywood's 'serial kisser' due to the multiple kissing scenes in his films. He got this tag post the release of Murder in 2004. View this post on Instagram However, did you know that his wife Praveen got angry after watching Murder? Revealing the incident on Koffee With Karan a few years ago, the Dirty Picture star said, "In the first seat my wife digging her nails into my hand like ‘what the hell have you done and you haven’t prepared me for this and what are you doing because this is not Bollywood’. On the chat show, Emraan also admitted that his wife hasn't fully accepted this aspect of his professional life, but they've come to an agreement. "She hasn't accepted it. We have hit a common ground. Right now there is a deal that we have…The deal is I take her shopping and she probably swipes the card close to seven-digit numbers," he added. Well, that's interesting! View this post on Instagram On the career front, the actor will next be seen playing the main antagonist in Tiger 3. 8. South actor Prabhas, who became a pan-India star post the historic success of the Baahubali series, is currently waiting for the release of his next, Radhe Shyam. Helmed by Radha Krishna Kumar, the film stars Pooja Hegde as the leading lady and is slated to hit the theatres on March 11. View this post on Instagram As only a few days are left for the film's release now, Prabhas is on a promotion spree. Recently, in an interview, the actor opened up about getting intimate on screen and revealed that he generally tries to avoid such scenes. Talking to Pinkvilla, Prabhas shared that he is still uncomfortable doing kissing scenes. However, he performs such scenes in case the script demands it, as he did in the case of Radhe Shyam. The actor, who had several bare-body scenes in the Baahubali series, also doesn't like going shirtless in front of the camera. Before shooting for such scenes, he makes sure to keep the number of people watching him on set to a minimum. View this post on Instagram Sharing about his discomfort, he said, "Director wrote like that and it's a love story, so I can't even say no. In a commercial film, we can still avoid but in love stories, it is needed. Even now, I get uncomfortable with kissing scenes and removing my shirt. I check how many people are there on sets and say let's go and do somewhere else. In Chatrapati also, Rajamouli sir made me remove shirt on the sets and said you can now do anything". Last seen in Saaho, Prabhas is excited for the release of his much-hyped film, Radhe Shyam. Sharing his thoughts about the movie, he stated, "It has a very interesting storyline. It's a war between love and destiny. There are going to be a lot of twists in the climax. My role Vikramaditya is a little complicated in the film but we have tried to put in a very realistic, subtle, calm, and also energetic. The visuals are never seen before, vintage, set in Europe". For the unversed, Radhe Shyam is set in Europe in the 1970s and revolves around Vikramaditya, a palmist, who is torn between destiny and his lady love Prerana. Besides Radhe Shyam, he also has films like Salaar, Adipurush, and Project K in his kitty. View the full article
  9. With the changing times, the Indian film industry or Bollywood has seen a lot of changes as well. Be it movies, web series on OTT platforms like Netflix, Prime Video, and other platforms, there is a sense of more liberty being offered to directors when it comes to filming explicit *** scenes. © Netflix You needn't show two flowers brushing against each other to represent a *** scene in a movie anymore, with movies having more graphic movie scenes than before. It's still baby steps for the Indian film industry in comparison to the West but surely, it is still a mature step in moving towards a more free and relaxed environment of making films and tv shows. After all, sometimes, these explicit scenes are very important with respect to the project's story or plot. Well, one Indian actor who is all in for nude scenes is former Big Boss star, Urfi Javed. © Instagram Urfi, who has worked in Indian shows like Bade Bhaiyya Ki Dulhania, Meri Durga, Bepannaah, and even in the first season of Big Boss, says she is ready to do nude scenes for films. However, she has one important condition! The 25-year-old actress, who is often in news for sporting bold outfits in public appearances, says she will only do nude scenes if it is for a good movie and if it really is a requirement in terms of the plot. “Why would I just want to go nude? Not for the sake of it, I wouldn’t do it just because you want to see me naked. Not for that. But if it’s required, (really) required, a good movie where people will actually see my acting – I’m way more than just my clothes and I feel I am talented, I am a good actor – if given a chance I would definitely think about it a lot. Might even say no, initially.” said Urfi while speaking with Koimoi. The actress even mentioned how she'd be comfortable doing such scenes with a director like Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who recently saw the release of his film Gangubai Kathiawadi. “But if it is a good, good, good project, like that level project of a Sanjay Leela Bhansali film – I would completely trust him (the director) for that. You have to have that kind of trust in the director as well that he wouldn’t make you do it just so people can see me naked and he would sell that film on that scene. He wouldn’t do that. From a good filmmaker, I wouldn’t accept them to sell a film on my nude scene, but if it’s there, required, I would trust them for that.” said Urfi. We don't know whether Sanjay will respond to this and cast her for a movie in the future. © Pen India Limited © Twitter At the moment, the director is clearly busy with Alia Bhatt's Gangubai portrayal in the film getting rave reviews. 10. Not every actor or actress can ‘stick to the script’ and multiple actors have a ‘no kissing’ clause as well. While it’s a personal choice, some actresses have changed the narrative and done bold scenes with élan. Here are 5 actresses who did some of the boldest intimate scenes in Bollywood and are remembered for doing it with sheer confidence: 1. RekhaThe real OG when it comes to experimenting with roles and doing a fantastic job at it. At a time when actresses shied away from going bold, Rekha took up Aastha which told the story of a woman who gets into the flesh trade to fulfil the materialistic needs of her life. The movie had some bold scenes between her and Om Puri, and her with Navin Nischol. 2. Mallika SherawatIn 2003 when she starred in Khwahish, she shattered perceptions of what an actor, male or female can do. Her intimate scenes in her next movie Murder opened doors for actors to experiment with scripts. 3. Radhika ApteHer role as Lajjo in Parched was much talked about. Her bold scenes with Adil Hussain created quite a stir but the scenes were not vulgar in nature at all. 4. MandakiniHer controversial debut in 1985 with the movie Ram Teri Ganga Maili and her scene while wearing a white sari under the waterfall raised many eyebrows back then. 5. Zeenat AmanIn 1978, in Raj Kapoor’s Satyam Shivam Sundaram, Zeenat did what no actress could. At a time when movies were solely made for the hero of a movie, Zeenat as the lead actor stole the entire show and her scene in the wet sari continues to be remembered even today. 11. Remember Amrita Rao? Yes! The stunning Bollywood actress rose to fame with her debut opposite Shahid Kapoor in 2003's Ishq Vishk. Back in the day, Amrita was among the most sought-after actors in the industry, having been a part of popular films like Shah Rukh Khan's Main Hoon Na, Vivah, Masti, and others. © Netflix Her pairing alongside Shahid in several movies, especially Vivah proved to be a success at the box office, with many predicting a bright future for the actress. © Netflix Not many know, but Amrita thought the same as well, with her dream being the idea of starring in a big banner film of Yash Raj Films. Yes! That's right! Amrita wanted to really work in a good YRF film and had been waiting for an opportunity. She, along with her husband RJ Anmol, actually recalled an incident where she was really upset about not getting a role in a YRF movie yet. While speaking on a YouTube show called Couple Of Things, the actress revealed that she almost broke into tears after watching Shraddha Kapoor's Luv Ka The End back in 2011. “Mujhe yeh lag raha tha ki aisi clean family film with Yash Raj mujhe kyun nahi mil rahi yaar (I wondered why wasn’t I offered such a clean family film with Yash Raj Films)? I deserve it,” Amrita said. However, sometime months later, miracle struck, and she actually got a message from Yash Raj Films’ chairman and managing director Aditya Chopra, who asked her to come to the office for a meeting where he made an offer for her to be an ‘in-house Yash Raj heroine’. © BCCL According to Amrita, Aditya told her that she is the ‘Vivah heroine’ and has the ‘Rajshri image’, with his films not just for family audiences. He then asked her if she had any reservations about kissing scenes in films or if she was ‘open to trying different things’. Aditya even told her that there was no ‘formality’ and if she was not comfortable, all she needed to do was text him ‘no’ and he would understand her answer. As it happened, Amrita, later on, said no to Aditya explaining how she was in a ‘soulful relationship’ and ‘would not be able to do justice to' the offer. Aditya stayed true to his word in understanding the decision and said that he hoped he could come back with an offer that she would be comfortable with in the future. According to reports, Amrita had been offered YRF films like Neal ‘n’ Nikki and Bachna Ae Haseeno earlier, however, she had said no to them because of the same reason of not wanting to do bold scenes. 12. When Ranbir Kapoor and Aishwarya Rai came together for Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, they literally took our breath away. Its only natural when two super good looking and super talented actors come on-screen, you are bound to notice them in awe. Everyone was surprised with their intimate scenes, which were beautifully shot and suited the aesthetic palette of the movie in every way. Ranbir was often asked about his experience on working with one of the most beautiful women in the world, and every time his replies have been in the tone of a start struck teenager. If doesn’t matter if he is himself an established star and has people crushing over him, after all he is a normal guy who will feel lucky to share screen space with Aishwarya. However, it was rumoured that some of his words, which were spoke in a light hearted way maybe, drew flak and upset the Bachchan family as well. In one interview, he said “ sharam aati thi, mere haath shiver hote the. Kabhi kabhi main unke gaal ko touch karne mein jijhakta tha. Phir unhone bola ‘Listen what’s wrong with you? We’re acting, do it properly.’ Phir maine socha, kabhi aisa mauka milega nahi, so maine bhi mauke pe chauka maar diya”. According to an Asian Age report, his words didn’t go down well with the family. “There are four very professional actors in the Bachchan family, and they know what professionalism is all about. There's absolutely no objection to whatever scenes contained in the film. But why is Ranbir making these embarrassing comments about hitting 'mauke pe chauka?” a source claimed. Ranbir later even clarified the whole situation and cleared the air of misunderstanding. “Aishwarya is such a superb actor and also a family friend. She's one of India's most talented and respected women. I will be forever grateful to her for her contribution to Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. I could not have disrespected her like that” he said. Ae Dil Hai Mushkil starred Ranbir Kapoor, Aishwaya Rai, Anushka Sharma and Fawad Khan in lead roles. Source: Asia Net News View the full article
  13. Recently it was revealed that filmmaker Shakun Batra had hired Intimacy Director, Dar Gai to supervise the potentially nude scenes in his upcoming film Gehraiyaan. Talking about hiring an intimacy director, Shakun had said, “We were treating intimacy like a story and we want to see it like a character. So, the prep and the detailing was required. It was important we have an intimacy director. And Dar Gai has contributed a lot to the film. It is important to give her the same respect as we give to all HODs.” Now, another filmmaker is following suit. According to Bollywood Hungama, Sanjay Leela Bhansali has hired an intimacy director for his maiden web series Heeramandi that will stream on Netflix. © Instagram/Netlfix A source told the website, “There are quite a few intimate scenes in Heeramandi. Bhansali and Netflix have decided to bring in a special female director to oversee the love-making scenes.” The source further added that post the pandemic, no two co-stars are comfortable in getting physical with each other on-screen. Considering the risk involved, getting intimate on-screen will be a task for the actors and that’s where an intimacy director comes into the picture. Heeramandi was officially announced last year. In a statement, Bhansali said, “Heeramandi is an important milestone in my journey as a filmmaker. This is an epic, first of its kind series based on the courtesans of Lahore. It is an ambitious, grand and all-encompassing series; therefore I am nervous yet excited about making it. I am looking forward to my partnership with Netflix and bringing Heeramandi to audiences all over the world.” He also told Variety, “It is a huge saga about the courtesans of Lahore, it is something I was living with for 14 years. It’s very vast and ambitious.” While the star cast of the show hasn’t been officially confirmed yet, it has been reported that Bhansali will reunite with Manisha Koirala who starred in his debut directorial Khamoshi: The Musical back in 1996. © Instagram/Manisha Koirala Besides Manisha Koirala, the show will also reportedly star Sonakshi Sinha and Aditi Rao Hydari. 14. It's been almost three decades since Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has cemented his place as the number one romantic hero. I mean, you only need to look at movies like DDLJ, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Veer Zaara, Kal Ho Naa Ho, and so many others to know that Shah Rukh truly is the king of romance. © Netflix Now, as it has been seen in Hindi films, there is much more liberty in terms of what can be shown in movies these days. Unlike the earlier days, directors have more freedom with respect to showcasing explicit *** scenes, therefore giving way to flowers brushing against each other. However, while *** scenes often come out to be very attractive and pleasurable in films, what goes on behind the scenes between actors is another story altogether. Well, Shah Rukh, like other actors, has also been seen in a few lovemaking scenes in some of his movies. © YouTube While SRK to us will always seem to look amazing to women around the world no matter what he does, he actually ended up revealing the difference between how the scenes are shown to us and how things are actually like. Shah Rukh revealed the details while speaking on an AIB Podcast a couple of years ago. © YouTube/AIB He had been speaking with Tanmay Bhat, Gursimran Khamba, Rohan Joshi, and Ashish Shakya, when he was asked about a few things "that people believe to be true about movie stars but they are not true at all”. SRK then replied to the answer by using his wit to refer to the lovemaking scenes in movies. “When I wake up, I wake up as ugly as you guys. I mean really, what they show in movies, the sunlight, I hate it. That’s one impression they give after lovemaking. After lovemaking what they show in movies is a disgusting lie. It should be banned. It feels like their mouth smells good because they get up and start kissing and they are all good about it. It doesn’t smell like chicken tikka. It’s horrible,” said Shah Rukh. We all knew we'd be getting complete honesty from SRK because that's the person he is. The actor will be seen making his Bollywood comeback in the upcoming film Pathan and even Ranbir Kapoor's Brahmastra where he's said to have a massive cameo role. Source: Koimoi View the full article
