  3. Trust us when we say that conspiracy theorists in India are on a completely different level altogether. Not only do they believe that India had visitors from outer space about 10,000 years ago, but they also believe that we have our very own Area 51. We are of course talking about Kongka La Pass. © PTI For people who have been living under a rock all this while, Area 51 is a highly secretive Air Force base near Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. Rumours and several conspiracy theorists will have you believe that the US government has a secret research base in Area 51, that harbours aliens and extracts technology from their knowledge. Think Men In Black, but in real life. © Reuters Well, our very own desi conspiracy theorists have their own Area 51 in the mountains of Himalaya, near Ladakh, called the Kongka La Pass? What do they say about Kongka Valley and the area? Well, read on. 1. The Indo-Sino War © Wiki Commons The area around the pass is a little tricky. The area comes under Ladakh, but the Chinese claim it as their own (surprise, surprise). China considers the Kongka La Pass as its Tibetan boundary with India, whereas India, considers the Lanak Pass which is further to the east, as its boundary. As a consequence, the Kongka La Pass is sort of a No Man’s Land, although officially, it isn’t recognised as one. In 1956, a group of 10 Indian policemen, led by an officer by the name of Karam Singh, were tasked to set up patrol posts in the area. Two men from the party were detained by the Chinese army. A patrol of 20 soldiers was sent in search of these two men. These 20 men encountered a group of Chinese soldiers. A fierce firefight ensued, in which we lost 9 men, and one died later due to the injuries. Some were captured and tortured. Eventually, the Kongka La Pass became an important theatre of war in the Indo-Sino war of 1962. Some ghost hunters claim that the area is haunted by the souls of all those fallen soldiers. The locals claim that it is these soldiers that still protect the area, and deter away intruders from the Chinese side. 2. Great Place To Visit...If You Can Manage © Wiki Commons Whether you believe in ghosts & aliens, or not, you have to agree that the Kongka La Pass is a very scenic place. Documentary filmmakers, scientists and researchers, mainly physicists, who have visited the area, say that no matter what time of the year you visit the place, it is one of the most beautiful places on earth. But here’s the thing - civilians are not allowed to visit the area, although, it is only unofficially considered to be a no man’s land by the armies, and the locals. 3. A Hotbed For Unusual Activities © Reuters This is what certainly rings the bell of every conspiracy theorist - the area truly is a hotbed for some highly unusual activities. Very often there will be sightings of UFOs and bizarrely shaped bright lights, with no plausible explanation. Also, several pilots have claimed that they avoid the area when they can, mainly because their guidance and navigation equipment start glitching out. Nothing gets juicier than this for conspiracy theorists, who often scour through satellite images from Google Earth to support their findings. 4. Reports Of Alien Sightings © Reddit/r/aliensinindia Several locals and enlisted men have reported that they have seen flying saucers and other unidentified flying objects in the area, quite regularly. Several eagle-eyed conspiracy theorists have presented photos taken using Google Earth to show unidentified caves which appear and disappear sporadically, giving rise to the claims the mountain harbours a secret alien base. 5. From The Chinese Side As Well... © Reuters The Chinese government has tried to explain these happenings, as the result of some secret experiments that the Indian military is carrying out. This of course was denied by the Indian forces, but more interestingly, even the Chinese soldiers stationed near the pass. Furthermore, even Chinese conspiracy hunters claim that the Chinese government has a rather shady stand when they speak of the area. View the full article

  5. If you're a fan of zombie-filled action, you'll definitely be aware of the Resident Evil franchise. © Capcom © Capcom Well, in all fairness, it's not really that easy to keep track of the series as the original Japanese horror video game series created by Capcom, has been converted into a live-action movie franchise as well as television series. But the more, the merrier, right? It seems like Netflix sure knows our old, never-dying habit of always wanting more, and well, the streaming platform has delivered. © Capcom It just released the first season of the Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness CGI anime series, and here are five reasons why you should definitely give it a binge-watch. 1. A Zombie Civil War © Netflix If you've played the games, the first season of Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness is set somewhere between Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 5. The series sees the return of protagonists Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield, who once again, join forces to investigate the aftermath of a civil war in Penamstan, a fictional middle eastern country, which is very similar to the Zombie-plagued Racoon City of the previous installments, is a testing ground for the zombie creating T-virus. © Netflix What's next? Well, we see special force soldiers becoming even deadlier after turning into blood-sucking, brain-eating scary zombies. 2. Zombies In The US White House © Netflix The series starts with the US White House, the one institution which is guarded by the goddamn Secret Service, infiltrated with Zombies. While the American President is kept under tight security and escorted away, we see how the Zombie-fighting heroes of the Resident Evil franchise, spread out inside the dark and eerie halls of the soul-less White House to kill the undead and get out alive. 3. The Graphics Are Freaking Insane © Netflix Say what you will after watching the series but you can't deny one thing about it. It has absolutely mind-blowing CGI animation that makes the characters and the scenes, and even the buildings like the US White House, look absolutely life-like. I'm pretty sure that if you had a closer look, you could even start counting the strands of hair a character has. (I know, weird, right? But you still can.) This might not be the best Resident Evil piece of action out there for the die-hard fans, however, it sure promises to be a 100 percent treat to the eyes. 4. Mysterious Characters © Netflix Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness brings back some old characters along with some new ones. One thing remains in common with almost all of them. They've had some history and are all battling demons from their past. Be it the civil war soldiers or Leon and Claire themselves, the events of the zombie apocalypse at Racoon City as well as the one at Penamstan, give each character a mysterious vibe, which certainly adds more meaning to the plot. 5. It's A Mini-Series With Just Four Episodes © Netflix That's right! While I'm not entirely happy with the series being so short, there are just four episodes in the first season and each episode is not more than 30-minutes long. This makes it very easy to watch, especially if one just wants to browse what the Zombie-anime genre is all about. Having said that, I'd still have wanted the series to dive more into the plot to make it more interesting, and maybe adding more episodes to the first season could have helped in making that possible. However, for now, you can be happy that it's just a sign of things to come, and I cannot wait for the next season to arrive to make the plot thicker, and for the Resident Evil series to become even more captivating! 6. Americans and Hollywood movies would like to make people believe that whenever aliens from outer space visit the earth, they only visit or attack the USA. This has become a meme of sorts over the years. After all, they truly are the leaders when we speak of conspiracy theorists. © Universal Pictures India too, however, has its fair share of conspiracy theorists and they believe that India was visited by aliens from outer space, many many years before the US even existed. Some Indian conspiracy theorists believe that aliens came to India about 10,000 years ago. © BCCL The reason why they believe this to be true is a series of paintings that have been found in the caves of Charama, in Chhatisgarh. Now, before you dismiss them off, they will present you with volumes of evidence. © Reuters Here are 5 reasons why Indian conspiracy theorists believe that aliens visited India 10,000 years ago, and maybe, just maybe, why they might be right. The Humanoid Shapes © BCCL The cave paintings at Charama are not like your usual cave paintings. They certainly are a whole lot different from what people have seen at Lascaux in France. The one thing that sets Charama apart is the fact that their cave paintings show distinct forms of human-like figures. One of them can be assumed to be representing the local people who lived in the area about 10,000 years ago. The other humanoid figures are actually much closer to what we have come to recognise as aliens. The aliens also seem to wear some sort of headgear or a helmet. The Flying Saucers © BCCL The Charama rock paintings also have figures of flying saucers. What’s interesting is that the shapes have a very eerie resemblance to some of the most common flying saucers that we have seen in pop-culture and documents that conspiracy theorists all around the world cite when speaking of flying saucers. They even had the antennae and the “landing gear” that movies based on aliens have shown. Proximity To Another Such Site © BCCL Charama by itself is probably the only site of its kind that has aliens as cave paintings. But what makes things even more interesting, is its proximity to Madhya Pradesh’s Hoshangabad, another set of caves where similar paintings have been seen. Charama and Hoshangabad are actually roughly 250 kilometres apart. One interesting thing about the Hoshangabad paintings is that the ‘aliens’ there have large, humongous eyes as compared to their heads, and they have actually painted them. The Timing & Carbon Dating Of The Paintings © Reuters The Charama paintings were discovered in 2014. Upon discovery, several researchers and conspiracy theorists gathered and studied those paintings. A few scientific communities even managed to get the paintings dated by a process called carbon dating. While some of the paintings are about 2000 years old, most of them are actually 10,000 years old. Remember the one with the flying saucer? That one is said to be one of the oldest paintings in the cave. NASA’s SilenceIn 2018, NASA was actually roped in to study these paintings. They even sent out a team to collect some materials. However, nothing was ever heard from them, at least by the public. This has only fueled India’s conspiracy theorists, that NASA, at the behest of global leaders doesn’t want the public to know about aliens. The bottom line… Whether you believe in aliens or not, Charama and Hoshangabad are actually quite cool places to visit. Not only do they have some ethereal caves, but they also have quite a good number of tribal paintings. That by itself warrants a visit. And if you do believe in aliens, well, then a journey to this place should be nothing short of a pilgrimage. View the full article
  7. Bangladesh cricketer Shakib Al Hasan faced huge social media backlash after misbehaving with the on-field umpire, and kicking and uprooting the stumps during a local T20 cricket match on Friday. While Shakib has issued an apology for his actions, his wife Ummey Al Hasan has come out in defence of her husband claiming that a plot has been going on for a while to portray the all-rounder as a villain. She also said that there are many people who are supporting her husband for showing guts and standing up against all odds. “I’m enjoying this incident as much as the media is, finally some news on tv! It is great to see the support of the people who can see the clear picture of today’s incident at least someone has the guts to stand against all odds,” Ummey wrote on Facebook. “However it is sad to see the main issue getting buried by the media highlighting only the anger that he showed. The main issue is the ongoing eye catching decisions of the umpires!" “The headlines are really saddening. To me it is a plot against him that has been going on for a while to portray him as the villain in all circumstances! If you are a cricket lover beware of your actions!", she added. Who’s this? Is it Shakib al Hasan? pic.twitter.com/kk69rdyyod — Iceland Cricket (@icelandcricket) June 11, 2021 Shakib lost his temper not once but twice in a span of two overs during a T20 game between Mohammedan Sporting and Abahani Limited. Unhappy with the umpiring decisions, Shakib, in complete disregard to the match officials flouted several codes of conducts, kicking, uprooting and throwing the stumps on the ground. Later, describing his actions as “human error”, Shakib rendered an apology to the authorities and cricket fans, promising not to repeat the same thing again in future. "Dear fans and followers, I am extremely sorry for losing my temper and ruining the match for everyone and especially those who are watching from home. An experienced player like me should not have reacted that way but sometimes against all odds it happens unfortunately," Shakib posted on Facebook. "I apologise to the teams, management, tournament officials and organizing committee for this human error. Hopefully, I won't be repeating this again in the future. Thanks and love you all SAH," he added. Shocker from #Shakib.. Surely he's a role model for many young Bangladeshi cricketers. 8. Currently under a six-day custody of the Delhi Police for the murder of fellow wrestler Sagar Rana, Sushil Kumar has been reportedly numb during his time at the Model Town police station where he was taken for questioning, following his arrest on Saturday, May 22 2021. Over the last couple of days, media reports and sources have suggested that the two-time Olympic medallist has cried, refused to eat anything and has expressed regret towards the death of the 23-year old. He has also said that he had no intention of killing Rana and just wanted to scare him a little bit. Night CCTV footage of Olympic medalist #SushilKumar being intercepted by @CellDelhi sleuths and later arrested for his alleged role in the murder of 23 year old ex junior national champion wrestler Sagar. pic.twitter.com/Vj5n8N0xc5 — Pramod Kumar Singh (@SinghPramod2784) May 23, 2021 However, the accused wrestler's counsel, BS Jakhar has suggested five reasons why he thinks his client is being falsely framed. He does so while in a conversation with InsideSport: 1. Sushil Kumar’s Name Not In Original FIR:“In the FIR filed there was no mention of Sushil. It was after Sagar Dhankar (one of the victims) died, the Delhi Police included Pahelwan (Sushil)... we have denied and said the incident was just a quarrel between two groups at the stadium and Sushil had just come to intervene and resolve it.” 2. Quick On The Non-Bailable Warrant:“Never has in history the Delhi Police issued a non-bailable warrant in just 10 days. Even if it’s a dreaded criminal. Then why against Sushil Pahelwan? (sic).” View this post on Instagram 3. Police Notice Addressed To His Wife:“Also, the Police sent the notice (under section) 160 to his wife and not him, Why? Then they announced a reward which usually happens after a chargesheet is filed. There was the wrong intention from the start.” 4. Trying To Get False Confession:“He is in remand now. There they are trying to get (him) to falsely confess the crime which he has not even committed. He has denied to give a signature on any paper and therefore such claims.” 5. Where’s The CCTV Footage?:“They have 90 days to file the chargesheet. The famed clip, which police claims shows Sushil during the incident, where is it? We are waiting for the next hearing now.” View the full article

  13. Conspiracy theories have roots in the 19th century and have been popular for decades. Until recently, conspiracy theorists have lived in the margins. They are often convinced the earth is flat, Lee Harvey Oswald didn't act alone, and the moon landings were faked in a Hollywood sound stage. More recently, with 9/11 and the coronavirus pandemic, these conspiracy theories have become more mainstream, with celebrities and politicians sharing them over their official social media channels. From the evil machinations of Bill Gates, the rise of QAnon, to the conflation that 5G is responsible for spreading coronavirus, it's hard to ignore the impact they have in creating misinformation which undermines attempts at effective communication from governments and public health bodies. Despite reams of facts, logic and critical thinking, those that follow conspiracy theories will not be budged from their positions. They trust their sources implicitly, and a mountain of research disproving the argument does not interest them. The number of people that succumbs to these narratives grows every day. When you consume the content shared by the primary sources of this misinformation, it's easy to see why. Conspiracy theories are created and shared in a way that is engaging and irresistible to many seeking stability in a confusing world. Whatever your position is on these conspiracy theorists, you can leverage these tactics to make your own content more engaging and shareable. Lesson 1: Make it emotive Human beings have two distinct and independent thinking centres in the brain. One works on emotion (the limbic system) and the other on logic (the neocortex). The emotional brain works much faster than the logical brain. It is what has kept us alive as a species. If you hear a loud bang, your emotional brain processes this first and triggers the urge to move before your logical brain kicks in and deduces the bang was from a book expertly pawed from its shelf by your cat. The emotional brain is continually processing the world, and even though it's part of you, you do not have much control over it. Your logic brain, however, works on facts, truths and analysis. When you watch harrowing whistleblower testimony telling of their suffering in a conspiracy theory video, your emotional brain is powerfully stirred. It's why challenging conspiracy theorists who are emotionally committed to the point of view with just logic often fails. The emotional commitment is incredibly powerful, and when you challenge them, the logic brain is short-circuited, and the emotional brain becomes defensive. In fact, the more logic and evidence you provide, the more the emotional brain digs in and refuses the new evidence. How can you use this to your advantage? Work on creating an emotional response with your content. Don't purely rely on facts and logic to persuade your audience. Try and evoke an emotional reaction through imagery, metaphors and similes. President Obama was a powerful orator and used emotion often to create a strong message. When he spoke of investing in education, he invokes emotion by saying "We believe that when she goes to school for the first time, it should be in a place where the rats don't outnumber the computer." Lesson 2: Tell a story Conspiracy theory videos don't just reel off a list of events and facts, they tell a story. Some of the more complex theories are akin to a sprawling TV series with several characters linked by circumstance. Humans have always been curators of stories. From religious texts to morality fables, we learn and process the world through stories. Stories are memorable. Most adults can recite fairytales read to us when we were children. Use a story to link together critical points within your content. Consider how "Gamification has been proven to make communities more sticky and encourage more engagement" reads compared to "It was 3am, the flicker of the TV set was the only light in the room. My palms, slick with sweat, fought to keep the controller sticks moving. Even though I had a 6am start, I couldn't put the controller down. I had to finish the quest and collect the reward. Your community is no different." Take your reader on a journey, and they're more likely to finish your content. Try and make it personal. When we read, we always try and put ourselves in the shoes of the author or the protagonist. Stories and emotion go hand in hand. Recently, the Huffington Post ran a story with the headline "One death a minute" which is a very emotive and powerful alternative to the raw fact that 1,461 Americans lost their lives to COVID-19 on the 29th July. Lesson 3: Make it easy to consume A key strength for any content creator is to know when to create long-form content and snackable content. A single meme is more potent than 300 links to PubMed. A single YouTube video can be more persuasive than an expert in her field. Conspiracy theory creators use over-simplification to reduce a complex issue into an easily digestible entertaining snack. A meme generally contains a single idea that is easy to grasp and engaging. You don't have to work very hard to understand it, your visual brain processes it in 1/10th of a second, and it triggers a moment of delight. Infographics and memes are often smart ways to create an entrance to your content. If an image containing a straightforward idea from a more complex piece of content is digested quickly, it can leave your audience wanting more, and therefore more likely to involve themselves in your more complex work. When creating long-form content, consider the use of iconography, infographics and photography. Visuals help us remember and understand content quickly. I could say that 63% of this blog was written on an iPad, but a piechart would make this easier to process and more memorable. No tin foil hats required Creating compelling content is key to building your community. Your content sets the tone, helps drive re-engagement and positions you as a key expert in your field. Using the techniques many conspiracy theory creators use to spread their narratives will help your content be more memorable and shareable A well-created story with emotional cornerstones made more accessible by key points simplified into snackable quotes or images will help your content find a wider audience, whether you believe Neil Armstrong landed on the moon or not.
  14. The human mind works in the most amazing ways. It is so unpredictable in its wiring and synapses, we want nothing more than to credit it for all the âgoodâ that our kind has experienced on the planet. But I feel our mindâs tendency to poke around until our curious brain cells have been satisfied, is its greatest capability. Of course besides furnishing mind-boggling, truly-convincing but so-damn-unnerving conspiracy theories that will unsettle the nerd inside us. With Coronavirus claiming its 2000+ victim recently, crazy conspiracy theories are pouring in thick and heavy, so letâs dive right into the top 6 conspiracy theories around recent virus infection outbreaks around the world: 1. Novel Coronavirus © Reuters Social media was abuzz with recent posts on Twitter which claimed that the reason why Wuhan became the epicentre of the deadly epidemic is because this is a case of Chinese manufacturing of a âbio-weapon gone wrong. It is also suggested that it was meant to target the rival powers of the world. I told you all so. The #coronavirus is a #Wuhan-made #bioweapon that was either released intentionally or accidentally. Either way, this is a MAJOR SCANDAL. #China needs to be held accountable. https://t.co/WKLSHBUQMh â ðºð¸ Cory Groshek ðºð¸ (@CoryGroshek) February 3, 2020Alternatively, others have claimed that the outbreak was orchestrated by the United States to inhibit Chinaâs momentous growth and bring down its economy. But the most amazing of them all is the theory which suggests that the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation planned the outbreak as a population control measure. Bill Gates & World Economic Forum Ran Coronavirus Outbreak Simulation Just 6 Weeks Before the Real Outbreak https://t.co/BXcMSXCcKg Gates is an open proponent of Global Depopulation. #BioWeapon #norovirus #wuhan #BillGates pic.twitter.com/3uT6FezQm2 â Norsu2 ðºð¸ (@Norsu2) February 6, 2020 2. SARS © Reuters Back in 2003, when the SARS outbreak in China was at its peak, Russian scientist Sergei Kolesnikov claimed that SARS coronavirus was a mix of measles and mumps, and thus, the virus had to have been created in a lab. However, independent labs rejected the theory mixing two paramyxoviruses cannot create a coronavirus. To add to the above claim, in the same year a Chinese lawyer and a volunteer in a 1998 Chinese-American medical cooperation program, named Tong Zeng claimed in his book titled The Last Defense Line: Concerns About the Loss of Chinese Genes that SARS could be a US-created bio-weapon meant to harm China. Tong revealed how American research groups had secured close to 5000 samples of blood, DNA and specimens of mainland Chinese twins in the 1990s. He suggested that the samples which were sent to America were now being used as bio-weapons. What really gave a boost to this claim was that the samples had been taken from all the 22 Chinese provinces which were hit by SARS in 2003. 3. AIDS © Facebook In a study conducted by Laura Bogart of RAND Corporation and Sheryl Thorburn of Oregon State University, it was found that most African Americans believed AIDS was created in the government laboratories to keep a check on the black population, and even though they knew of the cure, the poor were denied it. In his book Behold a Pale Horse Milton William Cooper also suggested that AIDS was a product of a government-CIA conspiracy to limit the black, Hispanic, and homosexual population in the country. To this day, many believe that the CIA intentionally infected thousands of African Americans with AIDS under the guise of hepatitis vaccinations. 4. Ebola © Reuters The biggest conspiracy theory that gave health workers sleepless nights was the claim that the outbreak was propagated, and a big hoax. This even led to the murder of eight relief workers in Guinea which was a result of distrust between villagers and the government, who believed Ebola âis nothing more than an invention of white people to kill black people.â An Al Jazeera report in 2014 also claimed that âmany Guineans say local and foreign healthcare workers⦠[invented Ebola] as a means of luring Africans to clinics to harvest their blood and organs.â The belief found a strong footing because Ebola victims were asked to be buried instead of doing it the traditional way. 5. Zika Virus © Reuters A survey conducted by the University of Pennsylvaniaâs Annenberg Public Policy Center had found that a third of the US population believed that genetically modified mosquitoes caused the spread of Zika. It all started with a Reddit post âGenetically modified mosquitoes released in Brazil in 2015 linked to the current Zika epidemic?â which suggested that Oxitec, a British company that modifies mosquitoes might have created the epidemic because many cases of microcephaly had been reported from around Juazeiro in Brazil, where Oxitec introduced modified mosquitoes in 2012. Additionally, other theories also implied at the participation of the Bill Gates Foundation as a cause since the Foundation had given away $19.7 million for a project to develop and test GM mosquitoes. 6. Swine Flu © Reuters Many conspiracy theorists and their supporters have come to believe that swine flu got to such a dangerous stage alarm because of the pressure from drug companies who wanted to make a profit from the outbreak of swine flu. Even the WHO was accused of being part of a worldwide conspiracy wherein they âcreated a pandemic' that didn't really exist just in order to help the drug companies. View the full article
  15. Will the real Melania Trump please stand up? No actually, for real. Everyone loves a good conspiracy theory and this one involving the US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump is a little too weird. In short, people online are convinced that Donald Trump brought along a body-double for his wife Melania and the woman in the picture is not actually FLOTUS. Yep, instead of people tweeting about #FakeNews and Donald Trump, the new big thing is #FakeMelania. While all these wild conspiracy theories are almost always bullshit, the proof for this one is right here and it's honestly a little convincing. Both of them recently visited communities in Eastern Alabama to pay their condolences after recent tornadoes hit the area claiming the lives of 23 people. This picture of them basically restarted the entire theory which first surfaced two years ago. I previously thought the #fakeMelania thing was bullshit but I actually don't think that's her. lol https://t.co/KQNekZy0pi — Danny//B ð (@OGBotterz) March 8, 2019 It's not acceptable at all. 20. 2018 has been pretty eventful so far. We have kids eating tad pods, people creating ruckus over a fictional movie and men getting turned on by a school girl winking! Here's another bizarre piece of information to add to the list- a conspiracy theory that Hollywood actor Keanu Reeves is actually immortal! Yes, it sounds exactly the way you've read it and we'll tell you how! First off, we have Mr. Paul Mounet, a 19th century French actor, who had a striking resemblance to Keanu Reeves. The resemblance is so uncanny that you really feel as if Keanu owns a time travelling machine! Not only are the physical similarities striking, but the fact that Mounet was a prominent actor in Paris really confuses us about the sheer universal coincidence! We just think Keanu dresses up in 19th century French clothing every now and then and sits down patiently to get himself painted. © Pinterest It's not just the uncanny resemblance but we actually think Keanu Reeves hasn't aged a bit since his absolute childhood hit 'Bill And Ted's Excellent Adventure'! Which makes us believe that he's either immortal or needs to tell us which age-defining cream he is using! I am guessing Olay? While one may wonder the extent of cosmetic surgeries or Botox he may have used to give him the youthfulness we see but then again, it's been 29 years since he first appeared on screen and we really can't tell the difference between then and now! Which really presents the greatest dilemmas of all time: is Keanu Reeves really immortal? © Youtube It's not just his face that's ageless, it's the way he's been dressing over the years too! He's never really mixed up his style or experimented with clothes, ever! You will always find him in a black blazer and a t shirt underneath it. Style statement or sheer laziness, who is to know! © Facebook Well, this isn't a theory cooked up in a MensXP Monday morning meeting! We aren't that jobless! A poll conducted by the Tylt found that 74% of the people around the world think he is immortal! Who are we to contest that anyway? © Facebook Whether or not Keanu Reeves is immortal remains to be seen but for now we really hope and wish he continues his acting career as flawlessly as his never-ageing skin!
  21. A student hoists a sign as hundreds of high school and middle school students from the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia staged walkouts and gather in front of the Capitol in support of gun control in the wake of the Florida shooting, Washington, US, February 21, 2018. AFP/Olivier Douliery NEW YORK: In the wake of the Florida school shooting, survivors like David Hogg and Emma Gonzalez have become faces of the fight for US gun control ? and targets for far-right pundits and conspiracy theorists who paint the students as puppets of the political left. In a polarized climate where the most fervent supporters of President Donald Trump are quick to cry "fake news," the students had barely started calling for action to stop mass shootings when wild theories began swirling on the far-right internet. At the forefront were websites Infowars and The Gateway Pundit ? known for relaying bogus theories including the notion that the shooting of 26 children and teachers at Sandy Hook Elementary School in 2012 was a hoax. "Evidence mounts Florida attack is a giant false flag," ran the title of one video on Infowars. Gateway Pundit lashed out at "string-pullers" it said were manipulating the students, in support of a "vehemently anti-gun, anti-American, and anti-Trump" agenda. The site namely implicated organizers of the "Women?s March" ? which has voiced support for a student-led gun control march on Washington on March 24. #CrisisActors, #ParklandHoax Hogg, a student journalist and one of the movement?s most visible faces, and Gonzalez, who called out Donald Trump over his links to the National Rifle Association in an impassioned televised address last weekend, have been on the receiving end of particularly fierce attacks. Infowars alleged the pair were coached by CNN ? the cable network regularly assailed by the American right for its supposed liberal bias ? interpreting their ease in front of the camera as evidence they were in reality "crisis actors" working on behalf of the far left. Meanwhile, Hogg?s father?s status as a retired FBI agent ? an organization in Trump?s crosshairs over its probe into Russian meddling in his election campaign ? served as further conspiracy fodder. A YouTube video presenting the theory was the site?s most shared footage Tuesday with around 200,000 views ? before it was taken down. Similar allegations were circulating on social media under the hashtags #CrisisActors and #ParklandHoax, triggering immediate calls for the accounts to be blocked. Still, another Parkland survivor, Cameron Kasky, who launched the movement?s rallying cry #NeverAgain, said Wednesday he was suspending his Facebook account after receiving death threats from radical supporters of the National Rifle Association. ?Unbelievable? Conservative anchor Bill O?Reilly ? who was fired by Fox News last year over sexual harassment allegations, but still broadcasts on his website and to his 2.6 million Twitter followers ? also questioned the movement?s genesis. "The national press believes it is their job to destroy the Trump administration by any means necessary. So if the media has to use kids to do that, they?ll use kids," he wrote on his website Tuesday. The theories reached the president?s inner circle as president?s son Donald Trump Jr "liked" two tweets related to Gateway Pundit?s accusations against Hogg, according to the site Trump Alert which tracks the family?s activity on Twitter. And in Florida, Republican lawmaker Shawn Harrison on Tuesday fired an aide who repeated the crisis actor allegations on his Twitter account. Harrison said he was "appalled" by the comments. Questioned by CNN about the accusations, Hogg simply dismissed them as "unbelievable." "I am not a crisis actor," he said. "I am somebody who had to witness this and live through this and I continue to have to do that."
