  1. ICC shares pictures of the Gwadar cricket ground, challenging cricket fans to show them a more picturesque stadium
  2. Arguably one of the most beautiful cricket stadiums in the world right now, the Gwadar ground in Balochistan has people from all over the marvelling over the scenery amid which the infrastructure stands. Last year in October 2020, one of the franchises of the Pakistan Super League, Peshawar Zalmi held a training camp with 50 shortlisted players at the venue and shared some incredible images of the stadium from their social media handle. #MGZalmiCamp Day 13 Gwadar, Balochistan 50 Shortlisted players participated in today's camp held at Gwadar Cricket Stadium #Zalmi #YellowStorm pic.twitter.com/m6xqAZGGMC — PeshawarZalmi (@PeshawarZalmi) October 29, 2020 Now, the Twitter account of the International Cricket Council also shared some images of the Balochistan ground recently, asking whether the fans had seen “a more picturesque sports venue”: ️ Show us a more picturesque sports venue than the Gwadar cricket stadium in Balochistan. Baluchistan jab India ke adhin aaega to iska nam MSD ke nam pe rakhenge — Kunal Priyadarshi (@kunalpriyadars4) January 31, 2021 As expected, Twitter user @kunalpriyadars4’s comment created a stir on the ICC post: Living in fools paradise — Blitz (@NAZIMPARHAR) February 1, 2021 Aur India sara ka sara Pakistan k adhin aa jai ga to hm iska naam phir say yehi wala rkh dain gy. ️ — pakistani (@SadaPakistani) January 31, 2021 Phely bathroom tu pury Karo railway tracks par kafi MSD bhty huty — Ghulam Baqir (@GhulamB96966208) January 31, 2021 There are many other NSFW comments in the Twitter thread which can’t be mentioned here for obvious reasons. Over the past couple of years, Pakistan has been putting in the effort to make the country capable of hosting regular international cricket matches once again and have done considerably well with support shown from cricketers and cricketing bodies of other countries. Every year since then, the Pakistan cricket board has been organising more and more matches on home soil, keeping in mind the safety of the international players and their comfort. Finally, every match of the fifth and latest season of the tournament took place in Pakistan and the four major stadiums the country possesses namely Gaddafi Stadium (Lahore), National Stadium (Karachi), Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium (Rawalpindi) and Multan Cricket Stadium (Multan). With the last bilateral series between India and Pakistan aging more than a decade now, any possibility of either side touring each other’s countries remains slim to none due to political tensions. The last time any Pakistani cricketer got to play in BCCI’s marquee Indian Premier League was in its inaugural season in 2008 when names like Shoaib Akhtar and Shahid Afridi played for Kolkata Knight Riders and Deccan Chargers, respectively among other players and franchises. 4. The world of cricket has witnessed numerous players making a name for themselves during their playing days. But, only a few are remembered and cherished by fans long after their retirement. Dean Jones was one of the few cricket icons who didn't just dazzle on the field with his skills, but also established himself as an equally influential commentator after his playing days were over. One of the most respected and popular voices in cricketing circles, the Australian legend left the whole cricket fraternity teary-eyed after the news of his untimely demise surfaced on 24th September. The 59-year-old, who was carrying out his chores as part of Star India's commentary team for IPL 2020, suffered a massive heart attack that led to his death in a Mumbai hotel. We are extremely shocked and sad to learn of the untimely demise of Mr. Dean Jones. His energy and enthusiasm for the game will be truly missed. Our thoughts with his family, friends and his followers in this hour of grief. pic.twitter.com/gAAagImKeC — IndianPremierLeague (@IPL) September 24, 2020 According to media reports, Jones had gone for a routine run early on Thursday morning and had a cardiac arrest in the afternoon in his hotel room. A Sydney Morning Herald report also suggests that his fellow countryman and commentator Brett Lee tried to revive him to the best of his abilities but couldn't. As soon as the news of his sad demise emerged, tributes from fellow commentators, cricketers and fans poured in for the former Australian cricketer on social media. Amongst the tributes, an old video of Jones picking up trash following a match inside a stadium in Pakistan has also been doing the rounds. Dean Jones, one of THE BEST commentator of ALL time, 2 times PSL champion and Current Coach of Karachi Kings who was seen picking up trash in NSK last year. Last November, Jones was roped in by Karachi Kings as their new head coach, replacing Mickey Arthur, for the fifth edition of the PSL. Karachi Kings, with Jones at the helm of affairs, did finish at the second spot in the PSL 2020 table, but they couldn't stop Peshawar Zalmi from winning the title. While Jones missed out guiding Karachi to a title triumph, he won millions of hearts for his humility and down-to-earth demeanour. View the full article
  5. No thanks to the Coronavirus pandemic that the world is going through, we have seen a number of professions and individuals adapt to the situation and manage to carry on with their work. But a South Korean real estate development company, has taken things to a whole new level. © Twitter/Yonhap With the world staring at a global recession and the processes of new recruitments almost coming to a freeze the world over, Ansan Urban Development Corp, a South Korean real estate development company near Seoul, perhaps showed the way to businesses all over the world how exams and recruitments will look like, at least, for the foreseeable future. The job applicants took a written exam at a football stadium, while seated in the open. In a statement to South Korean daily, the Korea Herald, Ansan stated that the move follows the companyâs decision to help to stop the spread of the novel Coronavirus, to the best of their abilities. © Twitter/Yonhap South Korea, for those who are unaware, was one of the first countries after China where COVID-19 broke out, and where the spread of the contagion was alarmingly fast. However, thanks to strict lockdown, testing and social distancing measures, the number of people actually infected with the disease was significantly less. © Reuters As of writing this article, the number of people in South Korea who were infected by the virus, is at 10,284, with 186 deaths, and over 6,598 people who have recovered. Thanks to the timely measures taken by the civic bodies and the residents of the country, South Korea is one of the very few countries in Asia, which has managed to âflatten the curveâ, so to speak, in a spectacular manner. © Reuters However, conducting tests and exams out in the open is certainly not a new concept, at least in India. Here we have seen a number of recruitment and entrance exams being conducted in an open field, especially by local police authorities and the military, where these exams often tested the physical capabilities of the applicants. With that being said, there have been instances where exams have been conducted in a similar manner to combat cheating. © ANI Now, assuming that the football pitch we see in the photos is a regular, league-sized pitch, each applicant is seated at a distance of about 5.5 metres, significantly more than the distance that is recommended for acceptable social distancing norms. This actually is a brilliant way to conduct exams that are sensitive to yearly schedules. © Twitter/Yonhap We wonder if we will see this becoming the norm especially for the final semester and final terms exams across the world. Although we feel for the students who were actually hoping to avoid their exams this year, and had found rather ingenious ways to deal with homework and exams during the pandemic, we still believe that this actually is a very plausible way to resume things. Whether or not this happens, we have to say that in the midst of everything that has been happening around the world, an incident like this where an attempt is made to bring back the regularity of everyday life, is a rather welcome sight. 6. Arguably one of the most popular sports persons in the country, MS Dhoni, now in the twilight of his illustrious career, is struggling to make the cut for Team India. The former Indian captain had last featured in national colours during the semifinals loss against New Zealand in the 2019 World Cup. Since then, speculations have been rife over his retirement. For someone who helped India scale new heights in international cricket, Dhoni's absence, irrespective of his form, has been a tough pill for the fans to swallow. Unable to watch their favourite cricketer in action, fans are now eagerly waiting for the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) where the Jharkhand cricketer will be seen leading the charge for Chennai Super Kings (CSK). © Twitter/@ChennaiIPL As Chennai gears up to lock horns with defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) in the tournament opener on March 29, the CSK players were reunited for their training camp at the MA Chidambaram stadium. Amongst the CSK players, there was also Dhoni who is worshipped like a demigod in this part of the country. In one of the videos doing the rounds on social media, Dhoni can be seen going bonkers in the nets, hitting as many as five sixes in a row. The video has garnered great interest from Dhoni fans who are eagerly waiting for their 'Thala' to set the upcoming edition of the IPL ablaze. Dhoni had begun his training in Chennai from 2nd March amongst other CSK players including his long-time friend Suresh Raina ahead of the much-anticipated IPL 2020. © Twitter/@ChennaiIPL For someone who has scored 4,432 runs, including 23 fifties, in 190 IPL matches, Dhoni doesn't need a thing to prove. But, while CSK will be looking to avenge their loss in the last season's final against Mumbai when they take the field at the Wankhede stadium in the tournament's opener, the upcoming season will hold key to Dhoni's future with Team India. 7. While we know that the recognition of being the worldâs largest cricket stadium was recently taken away from the Melbourne Cricket Ground and given to Gujaratâs Sardar Patel Stadium (commonly known as Motera Stadium), there are a variety of features about the stadium that continue to be unexplored and far from being in the know. 8. The fans of the Indian cricket team, especially those of the city of Guwahati were heartbroken when the match between their side and the visiting Sri Lankan side was cancelled due to damp patches on the pitch. This match would have been really special for two major reasons. One, Indian pacer and the apparent apple of everybody's eyes, Jasprit Bumrah was to return to the field after months of being ruled out with a stress fracture in his lower back. And two, it would have been for the first time in three years that an international match would have taken place here. © AP Even though not a single ball was bowled on Sunday, it wasn't a completely dull day at the Barsapara stadium. Instead, the cameras captured a great moment of unity when the entire stadium sang 'Vande Mataram' in unison. Amidst their phone lights flashing all around the field and fans standing in their blue jerseys with the Indian tricolour in their hands, the Indian skipper Virat Kohli walked towards the middle of the pitch with wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant and opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan by his side. The social media handle of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) captured the moment brilliantly and shared the video on Twitter with a caption: “Guwahati, you beauty.” Guwahati, you beauty ð#INDvSL pic.twitter.com/QuZAq7i1E3 — BCCI (@BCCI) January 5, 2020 The spirit of the Guwahati crowd was such that even though they did not get to watch their Men in Blue play the game they love with all their heart, the vibe was similar to the 2011 World Cup final when MS Dhoni smashed that six to end a 28-year-old draught and brought home the trophy at Mumbai's Wankhede stadium. It didn't matter which region of the country you belonged to, or what language you spoke, or what religion you were from, at that moment, in that stadium, you were cheering as an Indian, you were cheering for your team. 9. Ten people were arrested during independence protests at the Clasico in Barcelona. AFP/Pau BarrenaTen people were arrested and over 60 injured in clashes between Catalan separatists and police outside of Barcelona's Camp Nou stadium on Wednesday night as Barcelona and Real Madrid faced off, local authorities said Thursday. Masked protesters set bins on fire and threw rocks and glass bottles at police who responded with foam bullets and baton charges in a street near the stadium during the first "Clasico" match of the season between the two arch-rivals. Police detained 10 people during the clashes for affront to authority and causing public disorder, said a spokesperson for Catalonia's regional police force, the Mossos d’Esquadra. Emergency services said it treated 64 people for light injuries, including 39 police officers. But the police spokesperson said a total of 56 officers were injured, including two with broken bones. Some 3,000 police officers and private security agents had been deployed for the game amid calls for Catalan separatists to protest outside the stadium during the fixture. The clashes outside the Camp Nou were the first violent incidents in Catalonia since October when Spain's Supreme Court jailed nine Catalan separatist leaders over their role in a failed 2017 bid for independence, triggering days of protests that sometimes ended in clashes with police. The original fixture in October had to be postponed due to the violent demonstrations across the wealthy northeastern region. Inside the stadium, the match passed largely undisturbed, save for a brief pause early in the second half as dozens of yellow beach balls were thrown onto the field and had to be removed by stewards. Thousands of fans also held up blue banners with the words 'Spain, sit and talk' which were given to supporters outside the grounds by Democratic Tsunami, the Catalan independence group that called the demonstration. Four hours before kick-off, thousands had gathered at the four corners of the stadium to hold the same blue banners and wave Catalan flags, while some blocked traffic too. The match ended in a 0-0 draw.

  11. Last evening's Indian Premier League match between Mahendra Singh Dhoni's Chennai Super Kings and Virat Kohli's Royal Challengers Bangalore produced some really incredible moments of the 2019 season of the league. The thrilling last-minute drama with the brilliant direct hit by the RCB wicket-keeper Parthiv Patel allowed his side to win the third game of the season in a nail-biter. However, the innings played by the former Indian skipper has to be the talk of the town. While scoring his career best in the IPL (83 not out), Dhoni looked and played like his old self when he was challenging the age-old techniques of some of the greatest batsmen of the game with his unorthodox style and brute power. Mahi came to play and was focused from the first delivery, scoring a boundary at the deep point. We also got to see the finesse and creativity of the batter that he gathered and evolved through the years and years of playing international cricket as he smoothly directed a wide ball towards the deep fine leg. This career best performance consisted of five fours and a barrage of sixes, one of which was the longest any cricketer had hit this season at 111 metres, with the ball going out of the M. Chinnaswamy stadium onto the busy roads of Bangalore. What looked like an out-of-hand game for the 'Whistle Podu' franchise, came to the final delivery thanks to the superhuman game played by Dhoni. However, with a dot ball and a failed single, his efforts did not lead to a win. Nonetheless, Dhoni's efforts were recognised by the world: Dhoni for PM. 12. The past year for the Real Madrid F.C. has been a real struggle. Starting with Cristiano Ronaldo's exit from the roster for Juventus back in July 2018 for a massive €100 million contract, Los Blancos found themselves in one of the biggest slumps of their entire history as they lost rather badly to Amsterdamsche Football Club Ajax (AFC Ajax) in the Round of 16 matchup of the Champions League in a 1-4 (3-5 on aggregate) goals defeat. After the massive upset, the team's management has decided to start afresh after firing Santiago Solari, the pride of Argentine football under whose interim reign, Real Madrid saw very little to no improvement. Bringing back Zinedine Zidane to head the city to the glory it had seen during the three seasons he was the manager there, team president Florentino Pérez Rodríguez is now aiming to upgrade Los Blancos' home-ground. For days now, Real Madrid F.C. have been boasting about their plans to give Santiago Bernabéu, a giant and high-tech facelift. ðð Take a look at the plans for the new Santiago Bernabéu! #HalaMadrid pic.twitter.com/ntXWHidlaa — Real Madrid C.F. ð¬ð§ðºð¸ (@realmadriden) April 2, 2019 According to TOI, the ameliorating will take about four years to complete with the stadium being fully functional by 2023. The new features will include a retractable roof, a titanium outside wall, along with a 360-degree scoreboard. In order to increase revenue generation out of the new customisations, the pedestrian areas will be installed with a huge megastore, multiple restaurants and bars, and also a museum dedicated to the stars and moments of the club. "We want this to be a great digital stadium of the future, and it will be paid for by the income its renovation will provide," said Perez. "And it will make Real Madrid more competitive at a time when the footballing landscape is becoming ever less certain." What is rather odd about the plans, however, is that the project which is going to set Perez's bank account back by € 525 million approximately, does not include any ideas of increasing the seating capacity of Bernabéu by a single chair. Real's rivals, Barcelona F.C., on the other hand, are amidst an upgradation of Camp Nou's capacity from 99,000 to 105,000 and will be good to go by 2023 as well.
  13. Until yesterday, Barbados, the island nation in the Caribbean, used to be known across the world for being the place where 'Friends' character Rachel (Jennifer Aniston) hooked up with Joey (Matt LeBlanc), but the Windies' 'Universe Boss', Chris Gayle, decided to change that last evening when he caused it to rain sixes on the island against the visiting England cricket team. WHAT A KNOCK. Chris Gayle makes an incredible return to international cricket, reaching his 24th ODI hundred with a single off of Chris Woakes. It's come from exactly 100 balls. Clinical.#WIvENG | FOLLOW â¬ï¸ https://t.co/pQbWOWuEQM pic.twitter.com/0uUFCPJK4h — ICC (@ICC) February 20, 2019 If 'Balls Lost' was a stat maintained by the International Cricket Council (ICC), it would have to be Chris Gayle's name on the top of the charts. In a comeback match of his extremely successful career, the 39-year-old was able to get his 24th ODI century. He scored a massive 135 runs off 129 balls while having three 4s and 12 thunderous 6s to achieve this feat. What is crazier than these numbers is the sheer strength Gayle continues to command. There are sixes that just make it beyond the boundary line and then there are the 'Gayle Storm' sixes that disappear somewhere on stadium rooftops or even go out of them. Yesterday, Barbados experienced one such storm. During the beating he put on the Englishmen last evening, Gayle's 12 sixes included a monsterous maximum that travelled for more than 120-m with the ball nowhere to be found. However, the 'ball-finding' experts believe that it may quite possibly be resting on the decks of a ship docked in the adjacent port. But that was just one of eight incidents when the umpires had to introduce a new white ball into the game because of Chris Gayle. His new found form has come up after a couple of days since the athlete had publicly announced that he would be retiring from One-Day International cricket post ICC World Cup 2019. Although Joe Root and the rest of the English squad was able to chase down the Windies' mammoth total of 360 runs to win the first ODI, Gayle's return to the Caribbean roster in such fashion, just a couple of months before the world cup is nothing but good new for his team. 14. In a story that looks as if it is coming straight out of a highly dramatic sports-based Bollywood film, cyclists from all over the country who have come to Jaipur to participate in the National Cycling competition believe that they cannot trust their opponents with their expensive and extremely precious equipment and have chosen to spend the excruciatingly chilly nights of the Pink city on the stadium floors, right next to their cycles instead of leaving them out, unprotected as they cozy-up in warm hotel rooms. In what is considered to be a highly competitive four-day tournament, the National Cycling competition is a ticket to potential success for the hungry talents dwelling in small streets of the remotest of towns of out country as the winner will get further opportunities to take part in international leagues and tournaments such as the Asian Games, the Commonwealth and even the Olympics. With such huge life-altering opportunities at stake, almost every cyclist present at the venue believes that their rivals would do anything to eliminate whatever competition they can and however they can do it, including destroying gears and equipment that are “way too expensive” to be bought again by the already struggling athletes. © ANI “We don't want to stay in the hotel as our cycling equipment are very expensive. Once the equipments are damaged, they become non-repairable. This is why riders want their cycles to be kept near them. We opted to stay out of the hotels as our bikes are not allowed inside,” Bhagirath, a national gold medalist cyclist from Bikaner, told ANI. Even though the organising committee claims that they have made arrangements to provide luxurious stay for over 600 participants in hotel rooms and government guesthouses, they have been unable to win the trust of the cyclists when it comes to guaranteeing the protection of their cycles and the rest of the equipment which ranges between five and ten lakhs. “There is a cut-throat competition in events like these. In the heat of the moment, opponents can damage other players' equipments. So cyclists don't want to keep their cycles away as even a small mischief can ruin their careers,” says Ritesh Choudhary, the organising secretary. The incident only goes out to show the unkind reality of a competitive mind. 'Getting closer to victory by all means necessary,' has been widely accepted as a norm, which is absolutely fine. Quite frankly, a lot of us won't even think twice before messing up our opponent's chances at glory if it meant 'good business' for us. So, if the cyclists believe that leaving their gears out in the open, in an unprotected environment would not only be a big mistake but tremendously foolish, their judgement is sound and it has to be taken under consideration by the organising committee before coming up with an event of a scale as big as this because even if a single cycle is damage, who would be brave (or stupid) enough to take the responsibility of the life of the cyclist, which is now in shambles?
  15. Cristiano Ronaldo's Juventus have found themselves in a bit of a sticky wicket, as their pursuit for the first title in the New Year is overshadowed by rage, protests and probably the most bizarre human rights violation in the history of football, as Saudi Arabia has banned 'women unaccompanied by men' to enter the football stadiums. As the reigning Serie A and Italian Cup champions Juventus prepare to go against A.C. Milan in tomorrow's Supercoppa Italiana final at King Abdullah Sports City Stadium, in Jeddah, Amnesty International, an NGO which works for the Human Rights all over the world, have requested the both of them to not participate in the contest at all. The request came from the NGO following the assassination of journalist and women's rights activist, Jamal Khashoggi. Le donne alla #SuperCoppaItaliana vanno allo stadio solo se accompagnate dagli uomini. Ma stiamo scherzando? I signori del #calcio vendano pure i diritti delle partite ma non si permettano di barattare i diritti delle donne! — laura boldrini (@lauraboldrini) January 3, 2019 When Serie A made public the information about some seats being available only to men and that women may only be allowed to sit in the 'Family' section of the stadium, it only added fuel to the fire. Italian Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini showed his displeasure by calling the whole act “disgusting” and announced that he will not be watching the game. While no news from either of the teams about shunning the game is out yet, Saudi Arabia's decision to ban single women from stadiums cries for support from big influences like Juventus and A.C. Milan. Players like Ronaldo and Paulo Dybala, who are loved by millions from all around ought to feel a sense of responsibility towards their fans and their human rights. But sadly, Juventus defender Alex Sandro feels that “the Saudis have taken a step forward," allowing at least married women to come and watch the sport. He believes that “they have a different fan base…” and hopes to have a good final. Partial human rights mean no human rights at all.
  16. Just in case you thought our government was pulling a fast one on us about the 'world's largest stadium in India', it's really not doing so and it's certainly not a myth! Yes, there wasn't much news from the site but we've just managed to get hold of some pictures from the stadium construction site and we're literally awe-struck! © Twitter The 700 crore ($100 million) stadium was given a green signal at the beginning of 2017, when a few prominent officials were called upon in Motera Ahmedabad, on January 16, 2017, to take part in the foundation-stone-laying ceremony of the new stadium. Now, two years later, we're getting a glimpse into some solid construction work that's gone into the stadium. © Twitter The Gujarat Cricket Association Vice-President, Parimal Nathwani tweeted out pictures of the construction in which he clearly stated that this is the dream project of the state cricket board and after it's completion, it will become a symbol of pride for India. Take a look: World's Largest Cricket Stadium, larger than #Melbourne, is under construction at #Motera in #Ahmedabad,#Gujarat. Once completed the dream project of #GujaratCricketAssociation will become pride of entire India. Sharing glimpses of construction work under way. @BCCI @ICC #cricket pic.twitter.com/WbeoCXNqRJ — Parimal Nathwani (@mpparimal) 6 January 2019 The stadium will be built across 63 acres of land, with a final budget cost of INR 700 crores, with the help of L&T and Populous, who have been given the construction tender and the opportunity to design it, respectively. The infrastructure, so far, includes three practice grounds and an indoor cricket academy, inside the stadium. As further told to a popular publication, the parking area will accommodate about 3,000 cars and 10,000 two-wheelers! The stadium also boasts of having 76 corporate boxes, four dressing rooms, a club-house and an Olympic -size swimming pool! Talk about having it all, eh? © Twitter The stadium vouches to take over from the Melbourne Cricket Ground and Eden Gardens in Kolkata, in every sphere. Especially in terms of capacity, seating (it can seat over 1 lakh people) and other spatial parameters, once it's fully constructed. Well, here's hoping the stadium is absolutely up and ready and in full swing by 2023, while India hosts both the Cricket World Cup and the largest cricket ground in the world!
  17. After a disappointing bronze-medal finish at the Asian Games in September, the Indian hockey fans hoped for a much-improved performance from the men's team ahead of the coveted Hockey World Cup in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. And, if anyone has followed the journey of Harendra Singh-coached side so far in the tournament, they'd agree that the 'Men in Blue' are eager to make a mark in front of the home crowd. The Manpreet Singh-led team made their intentions clear after blanking South Africa 5-0 in their opening match. And then, they produced a spirited performance in the dogged encounter against World No. 3 Belgium to snatch a crucial 2-2 draw. Their final pool game saw the hosts thumping five goals past the Canadians to secure direct qualification for the quarterfinals where they now await mighty Dutchmen in what is arguably their biggest test in the tournament so far. For a team, whose coach had already claimed that his side will secure a podium finish in the sport's biggest event, India, so far, have checked all the boxes. But, what really differentiates this Indian team from its predecessors is the way it managed to turn things around during a match, snatch momentum and get right back on top - something that has allowed the home fans to expect bigger and greater things from them in the coveted tournament. © Twitter/@TheHockeyIndia But, while the Indian team has elated the fans with some sublime performances in the tournament, some senior players, reportedly, drew flak from one of the top Hockey India (HI) officials on 11th December. During the crossover match between Netherlands and Canada - where the Dutch side secured a 5-0 triumph, the HI official in question humiliated some senior Indian players in front of general public and former greats. According to the TOI report, the official lashed out at the Indian players after watching them sign autographs and take selfies with fans in the VIP lounge of the Kalinga stadium. "The official paced towards the player and yelled 'get out of here' in front of all the guests, including former greats and legends from India and other countries," a former India player, who was present at the scene, was quoted as saying by TOI. "That's not how you treat national players. We give our heart and soul for the country and this is what we get," he added. © Twitter/@TheHockeyIndia As per the tournament guidelines, the players are not allowed to enter the VIP lounge. Thus, the Indian players being there was wrong in the first place, but there is no doubt that the matter could've been handled in a better manner. Speaking on the breach of protocols, the former Indian player said: "Even if that's the case, there's a way to send the message across. Embarrassing senior players in front of everybody, in public, is unacceptable". "Why was a certain member of the Indian support staff not asked to leave during the past few days that he (HI official) has been here?" the former Indian hockey player asked.

  19. The ongoing FIFA World Cup 2018 is undoubtedly the most unpredictable tournament of this year so far, especially now that all the great teams have been ousted and only the underdogs are left to compete for the trophy. Last night's match between Japan and Belgium was no different. © Twitter Yesterday saw one of the most shocking and memorable matches ever played, with Japan facing a heart-breaking defeat at the hands of Belgium at the 94th minute. Initially, Japan was leading by a score of 2-0 and was this close to creating history by making it to the final eight for the very first time, but they failed to do so by falling short by the tiniest margin in the final seconds. If that doesn't pinch like hell, we don't know what does. © Twitter Belgium soon turned the tables around and made a stunning comeback of 3-2 with Nacer Chadli hitting the winning goal to qualify into the quarterfinals against Brazil. © Twitter On most occasions when a team loses a match, their fans are left so disappointed that they often create a ruckus in the stadium or leave trash all around. But, Japan's fans are different and probably one of the best people in the world. Despite being reduced to tears after the painful defeat, the Blue Samurai fans did not forget their responsibility and like always, cleaned the stadium after the match was over. Social media is in awe of this gesture and truly they deserve all our respect for this. ð Lose 3-2 in the 90th minute to Belgium. ð Still stay behind and clean rubbish from the stands. ð¯ðµ Take A Bow, Japan Fans. ð pic.twitter.com/BsGwUx6MkZ — SPORF (@Sporf) July 2, 2018 Knocked out of the World Cup in the worst way...
