But man, the sneakers he wears with these ensembles are a feast for sore eyes. From wearing Jordan 1 Retro High Dior to making a statement in Prada sneakers, Ranbir has time and again given us a peek at some of his 'ferociously expensive' sneakers. © Viral Bhayani © Viral Bhayani Ranbir was recently spotted out and about in the city. He was seen in his casual self, wearing quite a basic outfit, that comprised of a full-sleeved T-shirt and military-inspired cargo pants. What isn't basic here are definitely the sneakers he wore. Take a look: © Stockx Ranbir is wearing Nike Air Max 1 Atmos x Jordan. The pair has striking visual elements. The pair stays true to its colouring seen on the tongue and heel branding. Furthermore, the shoes are inspired by an elephant in the water. Similar to the iconic Air Jordan 3, the print is used keeping in mind modern street life. © Stockx Given that Ranbir is more into buying extravagant pairs, this one was expected to be another costly addition. At this time, these sneakers resell for Rs 1.04 Lakh in the resale market. Ranbir might have laid his hands on this pair when they were released in the market but it won't come as a surprise even if he spent a lakh on this pair. © Viral Bhayani Coming to his outfit, we are pretty impressed with this combination. It's a dope outfit with a subtle tone, oversized T-shirt and cargo pants, with large pockets. The sneakers here are a statement piece that amplified Ranbir's basic, normcore outfit. As for accessories, he chose the usual New York Yankees Cap and a super protective mask. © Viral Bhayani On the work front, Ranbir has several projects including Brahmāstra, Shamshera lined up for him in 2021. 11. We have seen many examples of people being ruthless to animals and completely forgetting their humanity. In another appalling incident, recently, a huge crowd was seen chasing an elephant down a street. The video went viral on social media after Sudha Ramen from the Indian Forest Services expressed how deeply she was concerned over the incident. She took to Twitter and wrote, “No words!! Wondering who is the animal here.” Check out the video here- No words!! Wondering who is the animal here pic.twitter.com/LAcY276HdX — Sudha Ramen IFS 🇮🇳 (@SudhaRamenIFS) March 17, 2021 In the video, you can see an elephant running down an extremely crowded street and a big group of people chasing the animal. The video was recorded by a group of locals who were also heard laughing in the background which also awakened us towards how insensitive human beings can be when it comes to animals. Sudha Ramen further wrote, “Unlike humans, animals don't limit or know their boundaries. When it comes to elephants, the memories of passage are carried across generations. People living near forest areas or near d corridors should not panic, as this could trigger d animal. They too have d right to passage.” She added, “Across India, the forest department has been working hard to address this issue. Let me tell you, each case is different and there is no 'one solution. Anthropogenic pressure is mounting up over d forests & wildlife, so the animals are equally the same stress. Awareness is d key.” She also wrote, “People who are really concerned give efforts to understand d problem& d works done by the FDs to mitigate this issue. We appreciate such genuine concerns& not others who always point fingers. For many this is just social media, for us, this is our profession& we work with passion.” She added, “The reason for sharing these videos is to educate ourselves about such issues and to know how we have to behave in such cases. People who understand this will stay aware and will also educate others around!!!” Here’s what people have to say about this incident- Horrible! — Pardeep Chaudhary (@goldy8581) March 17, 2021Had I been in his place, I wud hv just reversed my path — Shashi Aggyani (@Shashi40695539) March 17, 2021Wtf s wrong with ppl. The man who is also the founder of ayurvedic consumer goods company Patanjali Ayurved was in the news recently over claims that Patanjali’s Coronil tablets could apparently ‘cure’ COVID positive patients of the infection. We all know what came of it. But right now Baba Ramdev is trending for a completely different reason. Last night, a video of Baba Ramdev falling off of an elephant’s back while performing yoga asanas on it, went viral on social media. Every platform and news portal reported it, and while we could see the yogi land safe on his feet and walk away unharmed, people managed to get a good laugh out of it at the poor man’s expense. 14. A pregnant wild elephant originally belonging to Silent Valley National Park (SVNP), Palakkad, met with a tragic death after she ate a pineapple packed with firecrackers inside meant to eradicate local boars, earlier this week. In a gut-wrenching video that troubled animal lovers all over, the incident was brought to light by Mohan Krishnan, Section Forest Officer, Nilambur, on his Facebook page. The post has since become viral with more than 1,200 shares, and has continued to gain traction online. Remaining calm through what must have been excruciating pain, the elephant retreated to a nearby river to help soothe her burned digestive tract, before succumbing to her injuries. Dr David Abraham, Assistant Forest Veterinary Officer, Thrissur, who did the postmortem, told The New Indian Express that on first observation itself it was clear that the elephant would not survive. The forest officials wanted to euthanize the elephant which was in severe agony. But unfortunately, the message from the top echelons of the forest department was to return it back to the SVNP. Regrettably, the tragic incident was picked up by several politically motivated users on Twitter, and used as ammunition to rouse communal disharmony and attack the ruling government of Kerala - which happens to be one of the major anti-establishment cabinets in the country. View this post on InstagramI am glad you are all talking about justice for the pregnant elephant who died after being fed fire cracker- stuffed fruit. It should be condemned. However, in the struggle for staying relevant and be in the news, we would also appreciate a little fact checking because, doling out opinions about everything that happens or doesnât is dangerous, worst of all, giving it a religious angle. And also, where were you all when the country was in flames few months back.. during JNU and anti CAA protests. Noone even raised an eyebrow back then. Those very privileged Indians are now crying about racism in US, they were completely silent when religious fanatics killed minorities in India in the name of religion and race. Come to think of it, our country witnessed racism like never before in the last few months and everyone was tightlipped. Selective solidarity does not matter, shut up! Get up stand up Stand up for your right.... 'Bob Marley' #getup #standup #standupforyourrightA post shared by (@shanishaki) In the above post by prominent fashion photographer Shani Shaki, the visual artist highlighted how interest groups have picked up the elephant issue and used it as a way to target minorities in the state. It began with several posts insinuating that the elephant was killed in Muslim majority district Malappuram, even though the incident happened in the Mannarkkad division of Palakkad district, which is nearly 100 kilometres away. Even Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar either fell for or supported this false narrative - while simultaneously having helped pass environmentally-unfriendly legislation during his term with the BJP government. Central Government has taken a very serious note of the killing of an elephant in Mallapuram, #Kerala. We will not leave any stone unturned to investigate properly and nab the culprit(s). This is not an Indian culture to feed fire crackers and kill.@moefcc @PIB_India @PIBHindi â Prakash Javadekar (@PrakashJavdekar) June 4, 2020 Similarly, activist and BJP MP Maneka Gandhi followed suit, naming the wrong district as âIndiaâs most violentâ district. It's murder,Malappuram is famous for such incidents, it's India's most violent district. For instance, they throw poison on roads so that 300-400 birds & dogs die at one time: Maneka Gandhi,BJP MP&animal rights activist on elephant's death after being fed cracker-stuffed pineapple pic.twitter.com/OtLHsuiuAq â ANI (@ANI) June 3, 2020 Soon after these statements, K. Sunil Kumar, Divisional Forest Office, Mannarkkad confirmed that the incident had nothing to do with the area under question. "The elephant was found dead in a forest area in the Mannarkkad division of Palakkad district. Such incidents have happened in the past but we have taken all steps to prevent them,â he said to The Quint. Meanwhile, dozens of communally charged posts flew up on social media. Between left and right, Hindu and Muslim humanity is nowhere to be seen. Can't believe young Indians have lost the capacity to think beyond divisive propaganda. An Elephant lost her life due to some monster and the lady is busy peddling Hindu-Muslim theory.#India #ElephantDeath pic.twitter.com/1qC7oNbxYz â Durgesh (@DurgeshAgrahari) June 3, 2020 Malayalam film actress Parvathy Thiruvothu also put a foot in the door of these hatemongering tweets, exposing how sentiment towards animals was redirected towards cementing political goals. Just how you jump at an opportunity to make this an anti-Muslim, hate campaign is astonishing. Focus on the problem. ANIMALS ARE IN DANGER BECAUSE OF CRUEL EXPLOSIVE SNARES. Talk about the actual issue here! â Parvathy Thiruvothu (@parvatweets) June 3, 2020 Others explained how the negative posts were part of a âdefamationâ strategy against the state of Kerala. The IT cell instruction is to hype any negative news from Kerala by adding keywords, communist and leftist, to whatever crap they tweet. No understanding or fact checking is done. It is just an online defamation campaign against Kerala. â Raj (@trilobite_1970) June 4, 2020Despite attempts to pull down the state, Kerala has been - not just across education metrics, but also as a forerunner in executing COVID-19 strategies during the worldwide pandemic. 15. While the entire nation is focussed right now on the brewing turmoil regarding CAA and NRC, there are other positive things taking shape in the country, at this very moment. With the protests and the current political scenario engulfing us in negative or positive news stories, other stories from around the country, progressive or otherwise, are bound to get overshadowed. And that's why, amidst everything you're reading online, we thought we can share something a lot more positive and happier! A proposal for an airport in Jharkhand has been pushed back, with concerns over disturbing an elephant corridor and we're both amazed and quite happy with this news. Amazed because the government has been on a development overdrive and quite rarely are environmental or wildlife concerns taken into consideration when something needs to be built. But because the elephants are an endangered species and India's heritage animal, the plan to build an airport by taking over their habitat is on its way towards being shelved! © Twitter The Dhalbhumgarh airport sought nearly 100 hectares of land, from forests in Jharkhand, that are actually corridors for migrating elephants, who travel between Jharkhand and West Bengal. Now, if this corridor is overtaken to build an airport, hundreds of elephants would be displaced from their original territory. An expert panel from the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change (MoEFCC), has deferred the project stating that if the project is carried forth, it could lead to an inevitable human-elephant conflict in the area. The proposal is currently under severe reconsideration and in all probability will be canned. The Dhalbhumgarh airport site is actually an abandoned World War II airfield, situated at least 60 kilometre from the industrial city of Jamshedpur. The airport has been abandoned since a while as the surface of the runway isn't suitable for any airplane to land or take-off on it and there isn't any facility available there as such. âNew runway dimensions suitable for ATR 72 type of aircraft will be constructed along with the provision of turning pad at both the ends. Terminal building to handle 75 arrival and 75 departure passengers at any point of time will be constructed,â were the minutes from the meeting held by the MoEFCC expert appraisal committee (EAC). © Twitter However, according to a report by PTI, the airport project is awaiting Centre clearance still. The project will be completely shelved if that comes through. While the committee thought about how pivotal an airport near Jamshedpur is, they also took note of the large forest reserve surrounding the city, which will be interfered with, if an airport is in the offing. âJamshedpur is home to the first private iron and steel company of India. The areas surrounding Jamshedpur are rich in minerals, including iron ore, coal, manganese, bauxite and lime. Ranchi (capital of Jharkhand) airport is located 130 kilometres from Jamshedpur. In view of population and industrial activities at Jamshedpur, there is a need for an airport for Jamshedpur city and region,â the committee noted. âAll around the proposed site the only land available is reserved forest.â âAny kind of ancillary development which is bound to come and further phase-2 development will also require land which will be only for forest land. The roads from national highway-33 to the airport will be built by the state government, which again will have to be built by acquiring forest land,â the panel said while discussing the matter. © Twitter Apart from disturbing the flora and fauna nearby and the natural elephant corridor the forest provides, a probable increase in human-elephant conflict is a big issue as well. âDalma Wildlife sanctuary is very near to the site. Elephants travel from Dalma to West Bengal through this forest. Every year there are a number of man-elephant conflict cases in these areas. The compensation paid to the people of these areas is authentic evidence of the presence of a large scale elephant population in this area. The disturbance to the elephant habitat by way of building an airport on their habitat and also by the sound of aeroplanes in the area and traffic movements will result in disturbance in the behaviour of elephants resulting in increased human-elephant conflict,â the committee further stated. © Twitter An estimated 100 elephants and 400 people die every year due to man-elephant conflicts when they have to compromise on their space. Currently, India has 29,964 elephants remaining only and we do not want to lose India's most precious animal time and again. This decision taken by the ministry is the first good step towards environmental resolution and we really hope it isn't the last good decision, concerning the environment and wildlife in India. 16. Who says karma doesn't strike back? When it has to, it comes back full circle making sure we're aware and wary of its existence. This is exactly what happened at South Africa's Kruger National Park a few days ago, when a poacher was poached by the animals of the wildlife reserve. A suspected Rhino poacher was believed to have been 'suddenly' attacked by elephants where he died and later his remains were eaten by lions. As tragic and astounding as it sounds, it was certainly a relief to know the animals were safe and sound and that they've finally learnt to take care of themselves amidst poachers. #sapsMP Komatipoort: A human skull found in the Kruger National Park (KNP) is believed to be that of a man reportedly killed by an elephant while poaching with his accomplices on 01/04; duo arrested, rifles & ammo seized. MEhttps://t.co/XXsXpJqTjA pic.twitter.com/4Oye38Eddh — SA Police Service (@SAPoliceService) 6 April 2019 © Twitter The man entered the park with four other men, carrying arms and ammunition, in all probability to hunt and poach Rhinos, one of the most endangered species in existence today. The police said the man was suddenly attacked by an elephant, after which his accomplices claimed to have left his body on the road so that passers-by could find it, while they ran away from the park. When his family found out about his death, they urged the park to carry forth a search for him. While they'd been searching a few days, they didn't find his body but with the help of some additional field rangers, they discovered what was left of the man. By the looks of it, a pride of lions had devoured the man and left just his skull and his trousers as evidence. "Indications found at the scene suggested that a pride of lions had devoured the remains leaving only a human skull and a pair of pants," the police told a popular international publication. © Twitter Even though the man was out on an illegal hunt, this has to be one of the most tragic ways to die. With absolutely no trace whatsoever. But then again, that's how animals die too. Except their traces are sold in the market at a high price. This incident can be looked at with utmost grief, or with profound satisfaction about the fact that nature does answer back, if its peace is trespassed upon. Especially when you have to be that foolish to trespass barefoot inside a jungle. © Twitter "Entering Kruger National Park illegally and on foot is not wise, it holds many dangers and this incident is evidence of that. It is very sad to see the daughters of the deceased mourning the loss of their father, and worse still, only being able to recover very little of his remains." Said Glenn Philips, the managing executive of Kruger National Park, while he extended his condolences towards the trespasser's family. © Twitter The rest of the individuals who'd escaped the park were arrested shortly after the man died in the park. There have been many instances of Rhino poaching before. Rhinos are poached for their horns as it's believed the horns have medicinal properties and they act as an aphrodisiac, making it more valuable than cocaine in the world. All we can hope is that this is a strong message for all the poachers who infringe upon personal boundaries and poach animals with little or no remorse. Next time, maybe they'll think thrice?
  17. What would you do if you were caught in the middle of a fight that jeopardizes your safety? No, let us rephrase that. What would you do if you were caught in the middle of a fight that jeopardizes your LIFE? Will you be willing to risk your life over a fight that you have nothing to do with in the first place? No, but what are your options when you don't get the choice of making that decision to save yourself, and just happen to be there? Well, something just that scary happened to a few foreign tourists visiting the Amer Fort in Jaipur. Two female elephants carrying foreign tourists on their backs got into a fight with each other in the fort premises and created a lot of panic and chaos. As one elephant pushed another and engaged in a head-to-head assault, the tourists riding on the elephants had a scary moment before they managed to safely disembark. Even the mahouts initially failed to come up with a plan to control the warring elephants. Other elephants in the vicinity had to be taken away to save them from the wrath of the female elephants. While it is common knowledge that elephants share strong, intimate bonds with one another, we wonder what provoked them to lose their cool on this instance. This also reminds us to check out 'Junglee' that hits the theatres tomorrow. Starring Vidyut Jammwal as a vet, the film tries to explore and present the kind of bond humans and elephants share with each other, through Vidyut and his friend Bhola's camaraderie. Take a look at the trailer for 'Junglee' here.
