  4. Chennai Super Kings' Ambati Rayudu dropped a simple catch to give Punjab Kings all-rounder Liam Livingstone a second life in their Indian Premier League (IPL) match on Sunday (April 3). CSK skipper Ravindra Jadeja had induced a false shot from Livingstone, who was hitting every bowler out of the park, in the seventh over and the ball had lobbed up to Rayudu at short third-man. Rayudu settled himself under the ball but it popped out of his hands, giving Livingstone a reprieve. CSK were already finding it hard to stop the flow of runs and the blunder by the 36-year-old did not help the defending champions' cause. Rayuduuuu, thank youuuu! #SaddaPunjab #IPL2022 #PunjabKings #CSKvPBKS #ਸਾਡਾਪੰਜਾਬ — Punjab Kings (@PunjabKingsIPL) April 3, 2022 Whenever CSK play, all eyes are on them thanks to their popularity and cricket fans wasted little time before having a go at Rayudu for dropping a simple chance to send back the in-form batter. Rayudu, who had taken a dig at Vijay Shankar for being termed as a 3D player by the selectors when the all-rounder was picked ahead of him for the 2019 World Cup, was on the receiving end of the trolls. After completing the catch, Rayudu had a big smile on his face as he took a sigh of relief. Thanks to Livingstone's quick-fire knock of 60, Punjab managed to post 180 runs on the board after being sent in to bat by CSK skipper Jadeja. Good job with the bat, time to replicate it with the ball! #PunjabKings #SaddaPunjab #IPL2022 #ਸਾਡਾਪੰਜਾਬ #CSKvPBKS pic.twitter.com/GDr1vtybqf — Punjab Kings (@PunjabKingsIPL) April 3, 2022 In the chase, CSK never really got going as they had lost half their side for 36 runs inside eight overs. MS Dhoni and Shivam Dube tried to steady the ship but the required run-rate kept going up and it forced the batters to go for big shots on almost every delivery. Despite a fighting half-century from Dube, CSK fell 54 runs short of the target, registering their third loss in as many games in the ongoing edition of the IPL. Shivam Du-es it! Here's to many more in Yellove #WhistlePodu #Yellove pic.twitter.com/k2w0riO1PP — Chennai Super Kings (@ChennaiIPL) April 3, 2022 The Chennai-based franchise are languishing at the bottom of the table and need to turn things around quickly if they want to defend their title. The major worrying sign for the defending champions is the lack of x-factor in their bowling line-up. The absence of Deepak Chahar, who is out due to injury, has not helped either but CSK need to make the most out of whatever resources they have. View the full article
  5. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batters held their nerves in a low-scoring thriller and registered their first win of the ongoing IPL 2022 . The Faf du Plessis-led side defeated two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by three wickets in a nail-biting encounter at the DY Patil Stadium. View this post on Instagram From bowling spells by Wanindu Hasarnga and Harshal Patel to Dinesh Karthik’s finishing skills, there were plenty of positives for the Bangalore-based franchise, who had failed to defend a mammoth 205-run total against Punjab Kings (PBKS) just a couple of days ago at the same venue. pic.twitter.com/oa1YHk995c — That-Cricket-Girl (@imswatib) March 30, 2022 For the majority of the match, the former Proteas skipper did a fanatic job, setting the right field and making right bowling changes at the right time. However, RCB’s one poor DRS call made the whole squad butt of jokes on the micro-blogging site. On the last ball of the 16th over, Harshal Patel, who had already picked up two wickets, was up against KKR’s number 11 Varun Chakaravarthy. In search of a third wicket, the 31-year-old medium pacer attempted a yorker which was successfully defended by the KKR batter, right from the middle of his bat. DRS king RCB #RCBvKKR pic.twitter.com/XElYjxaO9I — ᴀʙʜʀᴀɴɪʟ ᴅᴜᴛᴛᴀ (@The_AbD22) March 30, 2022 What followed was a chain of comical events which resulted in one of the worst reviews of all-time. Harshal was convinced that the ball had hit the shoes first and looking at his strong appeal the RCB captain also didn’t think twice before going upstairs. The replay on the big screen indeed confirmed that Chakaravarthy’s boot was nowhere near the ball and the shot had come off right from the middle of the bat. View this post on Instagram The people were left in disbelief when du Plessis opted to challenge the on-field decision and they trolled him mercilessly on the micro-blogging site. Some described it as one of the worst reviews of all-time, while others joked that it was a side effect of du Plessis sharing the locker room with Mohammed Siraj and Virat Kohli, whose DRS record was not very encouraging. KKR were nine down and RCB had two reviews left in their account. That’s why the RCB leader didn’t ponder much and straightaway went for the DRS. Some even believed that it was a tactical move to kill time and avoid the slow over-rate penalty. Whatever the reason maybe, the decision sure allowed the fans to laugh at their expense. 7. Gujarat Titans, one of the two new franchises who will be making their debut in the Indian Premier League (IPL), launched their jersey in a grand event at the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday (March 13). Their skipper Hardik Pandya, director of cricket Vikram Solanki, head coach Ashish Nehra were present at the venue among other stakeholders of the team. The event was hosted by cricket presenter Vikram Sathaye and the jersey launch show was a hit and fans poured love on social media. We ‘launched’ our jersey last night, quite literally! This field is hitting new lows everyday. https://t.co/pfInEsbr7B — Prajakta (@18prajakta) March 13, 2022We have seen what such remarks could lead to when Gujarat Titans skipper Hardik Pandya's controversial comments saw him receiving a ban from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Hardik had to issue an apology after being asked to go back home from the tour of Australia in 2019. KL Rahul, who will be seen leading Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL 2022, was also banned by the BCCI as he was also present at the popular celebrity talk show with Pandya. "I would like to apologise to everyone concerned who I may have hurt in any way. Honestly, I got a bit carried away with the nature of the show. In no way did I mean to disrespect or hurt anyone's sentiments. Respect," Hardik had written in his public apology on Twitter. In today's day and age when every comment is closely monitored if you are a renowned name, such remarks about women were a classic example of brain fade by the cricket presenter. 9. If you are a Virat Kohli fan, we feel for you, as the former India captain is going through a nightmare as a batter. He had scores of eight and 18 coming into the third and final ODI against the West Indies. However, things went from bad to worst for Kohli as he was sent packing by Alzarri Joseph for a second-ball duck at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Kohli's first ODI series under the new white-ball captain Rohit Sharma ended in the worst possible fashion as he could only manage 26 runs in three outings. He was dismissed for a duck in South Africa after he was caught at short extra cover off Keshav Maharaj in the second match of the three-game series in the Rainbow nation. FIFTY! 10. As we are nearing the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), teams have started to gear up for the upcoming mega auction which will decide what combinations they will get in a bid to fight for the title. The Ahmedabad franchise, on Wednesday, took to Twitter to unveil their official name -- Gujarat Titans. Gujarat Titans along with Lucknow Super Giants will be making their debut in the IPL. 12. Cricket is the most followed sport in the country and whenever our team does well, people from all quarters of life take to social media to congratulate them on their achievement. While most people do it due to their love for the game, some do it just to look cool on social media. The FOMO is so real that they don’t care about the consequences. View this post on InstagramThey know that in this day and age of social media, if something went wrong they would end up making a mockery of themselves but still they are ready to take the chance. This is not limited to us common folks only. We have seen some of the biggest celebrities in the country becoming a butt of jokes for putting out posts that exposes their lack of knowledge about a particular subject. View this post on InstagramRecently, Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor became a butt of jokes after he posted a wrong squad picture while wishing India’s Under-19 team on becoming the new world champions. India’s young brigade gave the whole country a moment of joy as they lifted the ICC Under-19 World Cup for the record-extending fifth time, with a convincing win over England in the summit clash in Antigua. The reason why people were so upset with Shahid was because they expected an actor who has done a cricket-based movie that is yet to be released to know better than this. People are right in saying that this happens only when people don’t follow the sport but still portray on social media as if they know everything, just to look cool. 13. Shark Tank India is one of the most popular TV series in India right now. Besides the unique and interesting concept of the show, it is highly entertaining too. We didn’t learn this much about business and investing in MBA as we did watching this show. © Sony Liv The hype for the show is evident from memes on social media to rumours and controversies in the entertainment world. One such rumour had it that one of the sharks, Anupam Mittal who’s the CEO and founder of Shaadi.com, People Group, is also one of the producers of the show. © Sony LIV Mittal cleared the air and dismissed the rumours of being the producer, stating a very hilarious reason of why this is untrue. He said that if he was the producer, he wouldn’t keep himself starving for hours while shooting, which apparently happens to the sharks too often on the sets. © Sony LIV In an interview with Siddharth Kannan he said, “Yeh maine khud suna hai and maine kaha, ‘Bhai, jo aadmi produce karega show, woh khudko khana nahi khilayega kya?’ Yeh Sony wale log mujhe khane nahi dete, sone nahi dete, shoot pe shoot karate hai, bhookha rakhte hai (I heard this rumour myself and said, ‘Brother, why would someone who produces the show keep himself hungry?’ The people from Sony don’t let me eat, they don’t let me sleep. They make me shoot all day and keep me starving).” © Sony LIV He also joked that he ends up investing in food companies because the food looks more interesting and appealing when one is hungry. “Aadhe contestants food ki companies leke aate hai aur aadmi ko jab bhookh lagti hai toh khana zyada interesting lagte hai, aur paise daal dete ho. Main khud ko thodi aise karunga (Half the contestants who come to the show own food companies and when one is hungry, food looks more interesting and one tends to put money on it. Why would I do that to myself?).” © Sony LIV We agree. He’s clearly not the producer of the show. Just a shark, and a hungry one at that most of the times. View the full article
