  1. For all you coders out there, here’s a little something to bring a smile to your face. Inspired by the ‘bro-talk’ commonly used by the Hindi-speaking male gentry from India, this programming language is making the tech side of life a lot more fun. ‘Bhai-Lang’ created by two Indian bros may have started out as a joke, but it’s quickly gaining virality across the internet thanks to its novel take on coding and programming. Here are a few things you may like to know about ‘Bhai-Lang’, the Javascript-based language: © iStock 1. ‘Bhai’, the Hindi word for brother, is the centrepiece around which this programming language is built. To make use of the code, users must input ‘hi bhai’ as the entry point code, while the statements must end with ‘bye bhai’. All code written within these tags will be valid, while everything outside of it will be ignored. © iStock 2. You can customize, and allot different values and functions to variables as per your requirement, "To declare variables, programmers would be required to use "bhai ye hai.” Javascript has now been made appealing to the non-tech crowd as well, thanks to the fun lingo. © iStock 3. If you’re interested in learning how to make the most of ‘Bhai-lang’, then head on to the program’s GitHub page, where you can see the entire directory of how to use built-ins, conditionals, and loops while programming in the experimental Javascript program. © iStock 4. In case you’re in the mood for some fun, the website's playground feature, allows users to toy around with the code, in order to execute commands and tasks using Bhai-lang. The bro-inspired language is supposed to be a fun dig at conversations among bros with signifiers like "jab tak bhai," "bol bhai," etc. The language was birthed as a result of an inside joke, according to its creators. © Twitter/ANI 5. Rishabh Tripathi and Aniket Singh, the creators of the new Javascript library are both software development engineers, at Groww and Amazon respectively. © iStock 6. If your code runs successfully this programming language gives “Shandar Bhai” message in green colour as output © Sony Liv 7. In the case of an error, you’ll be shown, a message popularised by Shark Tank India’s Ashneer Grover: “Bhai kya kar raha hai tu” in red text. © iStock 8. This fun programming language can be accessed on its website - bhailang.js.org, while the source code can be accessed here. Isn’t this a fun take on the popular Javascript language? Among the team of people who were involved in building the rocket that will launch Jeff Bezos into space is Sanjal Gavande. Sanjal is a resident of Maharashtra, and the 30 year old is part of the team that built the rocket system, New Shepard, for Bezos's space exploration company Blue Origin. Sanjal Gavande is the daughter of a municipal corporation employee who lives in Kolsewadi locality in Kalyan. She completed her mechanical engineering degree from the University of Mumbai and then went to Michigan Technological University in the US to pursue her Masters. © Twitter While she was pursuing her course, she opted for aerospace as a subject in her curriculum. Speaking to India Today, Sanjal Gavande’s parents said that their daughter achieved what she aimed for. Her father, Ashok Gavande said, "She always wanted to build a spaceship and that is the reason she chose aerospace as a subject while pursuing her Master's degree at Michigan Technological University. She worked with Mercury Marine after finishing her Masters at Wisconsin. Then she went to work with Toyota racing development at Orange City in California.” He added, "She even got a commercial pilots license in the US. She wanted to join Blue Origin. She would look on the website and then apply whenever she saw some openings. After her application was approved, she cleared the interview and joined Blue Origin. We just supported her and she achieved everything on her own.” © Twitter Sanjal’s mother said, "She was a silent girl since childhood and good in studies. She was also good in drawing and won many accolades, which helped her in mechanical design when she chose mechanical engineering." She added,"People told us that she is a girl and why has she opted for mechanical engineering? I also thought sometimes about whether she would be able to handle such hard work. She has now made us all proud. She had a dream of designing aerospace rockets and she has achieved it.” View the full article
  7. The world’s first hotel in space is only a few years away as it will finally become a reality by 2027. The construction of the hotel is expected to be completed before the end of the decade according to the group behind it, known as Orbital Assembly. The company plans to build the hotel in low Earth orbit in 2025 and will be called the ‘Voyager Station’ as reported by The Daily Mail. © Orbital Assembly Orbital Assembly plans to sell portions of the hotel to permanent stakeholders which are also being extended to government agencies. The company is also open to private landlords who would like to create a villa aboard the hotel craft. The hotel is said to circle the globe every 90 minutes and will have artificial gravity similar to that on the moon. The company has not revealed how much it will cost to build the hotel. “This will be the next industrial revolution,” said John Blincow, the founder of Gateway Foundation, which will run some of the Voyager’s pods, according to The Daily Mail. The rotation aspect is “vital,” he added. View the full article
  8. Classic Apple computers have become a collective for quite some time now and many show up for sale on websites like eBay for exorbitant prices. However, some of these computers command a higher value simply because they have certain characteristics than make them unique. Such is the case with an Apple 1 computer that was spotted on eBay for $1.5 million. The reason why this particular model is so expensive is that it was personally built by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak themselves. © Ebay The listing was spotted by IGN, and it is one of the six computers built by the Apple co-founders that came with an original Byte Shop KOA wood case. The computer also comes with an unmodified NTI motherboard and is in working condition which is extremely rare for computers from that era. © Ebay The eBay listing also points out that this particular model is one of the first 50 units that were built by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak. The only parts that have been replaced are the video connectors which is necessary in order for it to work. The owner of the computers claims that he obtained the rare computer in 1974 via a trade-in option for a new Apple II in Montreal, Canada. “The provenance of this Apple-1 system is seen in #79 on the Official Apple-1 Registry, as the second owner. I took possession in early 1978 from the original owner as part of a trade-in for a newer Apple II computer at the computer store where I maintained all Apple IIs in Montreal, Canada until Apple came to Canada. The transformer area on the case was recently reinforced, to prevent damage as performed on other similar Apple-1 cases in the past as adhesive deteriorates over time” the posting said. © Ebay Apple 1 was the first product to be released by the company in 1975 and was put on sale for $666.66 at the time. It’s not surprising to see a rare working Apple 1 that was built personally by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak would fetch over a million dollars today. If you had the money, would you spend that kind of money to own a piece of technology history? Let us know in the comments what you think about this rare computer going on sale and if you would consider placing a bid on eBay to get one. View the full article

  10. As the number of critical COVID-19 cases increases by the day, various hospitals and medical facilities are rapidly falling short of ventilators. Ventilators, for those of you who don't know, are equipment used to help patients breathe. Luckily, a lot of companies have stepped forward to help build ventilators. Tesla is one of the companies that has decided to repurpose its facility and resources to build ventilators for COVID-19 patients. Today, the company released a short video showing how its engineers have managed to build a ventilator prototype. It's a short 3-minute video in which the engineers are giving us a behind-the-scenes look at the prototype. It's worth pointing out that Tesla is using parts of its vehicles to build these ventilators. Obviously, not all of them, but a huge chunk of the prototype consists of parts used in Model 3. In this case, the engineers are using the Model 3 infotainment system to control an airflow manifold. Similarly, the car's suspension air tank is being used as an oxygen chamber, and Model 3's touch screen is being used as a controller. clearly, there's a lot going on here and honestly, it's quite fascinating. © YouTube/ Tesla We hope many more companies will step forward to help fight the coronavirus. It's been a couple of months since the outbreak and a lot of countries, including India, are still under lockdown. We hope to get out of this situation stronger. View the full article
  11. On US President Donald Trumpâs visit to India, around Rs. 80-85 crore is expected to be spent and almost half the budget is going solely towards security arrangements. Despite the heavy security arrangements, five langurs have also been deployed on the route of Trumpâs procession to keep him away from the monkey ruckus in Agra. The government has also undergone many vigorous steps for the country's beautification to welcome Trump and its attempt to build up a wall in Ahmedabad, to keep aside a stretch of people, has only left people on social media "heart broken". The âgreat wallâ has been built alongside the road connecting the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport to Indira Bridge in Ahmedabad where the "biggest road show" is set to take place today. The main objective behind the wall is to hide more than 500 kutcha houses at the Dev Saran or Saraniyavaas slum area in the city. âNamaste Trumpâ event, which has kick-started on Monday, will be similar to the landmark âHowdy, Modi!â event hosted by the Indian-American community in honour of Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Houston in September 2019. 12. A cop has become the hero of Rajasthan's Churu district by building a school that he runs for homeless children. The 'Apni Pathshala' school is built near the women's police station at the district's headquarters. Dharamveer Jakhar started with a mission to make homeless children study instead of begging. The brainchild behind the school is for the students to contribute to nation-building someday. © Dharamveer Jakhar Facebook Dharamveer found these kids near the station premises where they used to beg. According to The New Indian Express, Dharamveer said, “When I talked to these kids they told me they don't have parents or any other relatives. Initially, I thought they must be lying but I went to their slums and learned that they were telling the truth. I felt if I don't help them they will waste their entire life begging and started teaching them for an hour every day.” Dharamveer takes the help of two women constables and a few young volunteers who teach at the school. The school has around 450 students today. This wasn't an overnight achievement, it took them four years to reach this far. “We have had more than 450 children study at the school. We got 200 students admitted to government schools and around 90 are studying in classes VI-VIII. We maintain constant communication with them so that they can continue their studies uninterrupted", he said. A van gets students to school and later drops them to the slums. From food to stationery to school uniform, these things are provided free of cost to the students. © Dharamveer Jakhar Facebook "There are many families who come from UP and Bihar to work here. We have motivated their children to study and not to stop once they go back to their native lands. Some children have been allowed to collect garbage as their parents won't allow them to come otherwise. So we decided to let them do it after school. This way at least they get to come," the policeman added. The monthly expenses of school are around Rs 1.5 lakhs and the state government isn't helping much. So, the school depends on campaigns organised by Facebook groups and social media portals. © Dharamveer Jakhar Facebook "With the help of the police, society, and the education department, we can change their lives. These children should have special schools and separate staff to take care of them. They will never come to school on their own and there should be people dedicated to bringing them out of their miseries," he added. The cop believes that government bodies can help these children, even though the government hasn't been able to do much in helping Dharamveer. View the full article
  13. 2019 is shaping up to be a major milestone for eco-friendly tech with governments across the world including India's, taking major strides towards an electrically powered transport sector. While it may take several years for this to come to fruition, a brilliant team of Israeli engineers has come up with a novel intermediary solution - engine prototypes that run on water and ethanol. © Jerusalem Post The team from MayMaan Research LLC, is the brainchild of the Shmueli family. Led by 81-year old veteran engineer Yehuda Shmueli (who is assisted by his sons Eitan and Doron), the engines they've come up with are essentially conventional piston engines, designed to run on 70% water and 30% ethanol or any other kind of alcohol - completely bypassing the need for fossil fuels. The most radical thing about this prototype is that any car engine can be tuned and modified to fit its specifications, without major modifications. The results are twofold - not only would fossil fuels remain conserved along with spending on fuel - even the emissions figures are considerably lower. Highly reactive and toxic to life, sulphur and nitrogen oxides are completely avoided in Maymaan's engines. © Jerusalem Post The prototypes exist in four forms - a fully-functional vehicle, a power generator and different specifications of engines. We're told that the performance figures are considerable, with sufficient torque, power and efficiency numbers. Unsurprisingly, the prototypes took a staggering six years to design - with plans kept under secrecy through the development phase. Though Yehuda feels that the automobile market is currently too fixated on electric vehicles, he remains confident in his work. © Jerusalem Post "We have stayed under the radar for the past six years,” he said. “We decided that this is the right time to expose ourselves and talk to people and let the world know that such a solution exists."
  14. Adam Savage, the co-host of Mythbusters has launched a new show called “Savage Builds” and in the first episode, he built a real-life Iron Man suit that can fly. Savage and his team used a 3D printer to build the Iron Man armour and it can actually fly. The major challenge in making this suit was using 3D printers to make the armour light enough so that it could fly. © YouTube As for the flying bit, Savage worked with jet pack company Gravity and its owner, Richard Browning, to build jetpack that was capable of flight. The Iron Man Mark II armour from the movies is made entirely out of titanium. © Youtube/Cnet "It sounds like hyperbole, but I swear… if Tony Stark was not fictional and he was building an Iron Man suit right now, this is precisely how he would do it and this is the exact technology he'd be using," Savage told CNET. © YouTube The show “Savage Builds” is all about Savage trying to build things which involved the entire process of trials, tribulations, collaboration and even failures. The show will run with 8 episodes and in one of the episodes, Savage will also build the British army's Great Panjandrum. It's basically a car that has been outfitted with a massive, rocket-propelled, explosive-laden cart designed by the British military during World War II. Jason Momoa is not just admired for his choice of roles, his insane body and chiselled features, but also for the way he thinks about his family, cultural values and his expression of love for his wife and kids. The 'Game Of Thrones' actor celebrated Father's Day yesterday with his kids and unlike most people, his celebrations did not include going out for dinner or running for a swim but actually building a Harley-Davidson bike with his family heirlooms in the company of his kids. He spoke about how he grew up without a dad and therefore, being a wonderful parent to his kids was his top priority and the idea was to build something together which could be a memory they all share. “I'm a husband and a father and it is the greatest honour of my life. It has taken three decades in the making [to build the bike] – the longest dream I have ever held onto. And now, the best part is I get to share that dream with my children and the people that I love. I'm 40 [Jason turns 40 on August 1], and I finally built a bike. There are people who come into our lives like guiding spirits, providing the missing lesson we need. Teachers become friends, and friends become family”, Jason says, proving he is truly the 'moon of our moon'. © YouTube He fulfilled his own dream of building a bike with his kids and that proves that the best things in life cannot be bought. So, build more memories, spend more time with your parents, because tomorrow is not promised and today is all we have.

  17. Smartwatches come in all shapes and sizes and there's absolutely no shortage of them in the market. From budget options to expensive units, there's a lot to splurge on. But if you still can't find the one that you're looking for, then why not build your smartwatch from scratch as Samson March did. Yes, Samson March, who's an electrical engineer by profession, designed his own watch case, circuit board, and software. Heck, he even 3D printed and assembled most of the parts himself, which is just awesome. © Imgur The result? Well, he managed to build a smartwatch that brings notifications from his phone, including messages, email, and calendar. He noted that the watch can't play music yet, but we're sure he's working on that too. Oh BTW, he named his creation the “Smarch Watch”. It apparently took him a few weeks to finish the project, but he managed to even overcome one of the most annoying things about smartwatches - the battery life. Yes, Samson's watch can last up to 7 days on a single charge. In fact, he even built a charging cradle for the watch that can top up the battery in just 2.5 hours. © Imgur Interestingly, Samson said that the entire project cost him only about $50. Yes, that's just insane considering the fact that his DIY watch can do almost everything a normal smartwatch would do. Impressed much? Well, Samson was kind enough to share all the info, and you can build your smartwatch from scratch by following the simple steps given here.
  18. If you are a serious gamer who likes to game on the go, then your options are pretty much limited to a gaming laptop. Yes, gaming laptops are getting powerful by the day, but there's no match to a full-blown gaming rig. Desktops usually outperform their laptop counterparts, and that's exactly why unEvn wants you to check out its portable gaming desk. Called the unEvn ONE, it's essentially a portable gaming desk with a built-in computer chassis, integrated monitor mount, and more. Yes, the company wants you to take your professional gaming rig wherever you go. Here, check out the video - The unEvn ONE has a built-in mini ITX chassis in which you can add a motherboard, processor, power supply, up to four SSDs, and a GPU. Not just that, the desk also has an adjustable gas spring monitor arm, which can support can support a 32-inch monitor. Additionally, the unEvn ONE also has a curved front edge for added comfort, lockable drawer, and a durable and impact-resistant polycarbonate textured surface for optimal mouse usage. Oh, did I tell you it also features electric height adjustment to accommodate different chair sizes and body heights? Yes, trust me when I say this thing was built for serious gamers. So, what exactly makes this thing portable? Well for starters, unEvn says that you can fold the desk in about a minute by pressing a pair of buttons. The desk's leg folds up inside, whereas the desk itself folds in half. It also has a storage compartment for your monitor (25-inch or smaller). Of course, you also get a bunch I/O ports to connect all your peripherals. Once folded, the unEvn ONE comes in just at 32″ x 24″ x 8″ and weighs anywhere between 25-33kg depending on how crazy you decide to go with the internal components. Although don't go too hard on the components since you'll be carrying the desk like a backpack. © Kickstarter The unEvn ONE is currently looking to raise $40,000 on Kickstarter with 34 days to go. The anticipated retail price of this beast of a gaming desk is $2,499, but there are some Super Early Bird deals left that can shave off up to 50-per cent of that price.
  19. Samsung and Huawei have both announced their iterations of a folding smartphone but differ from each other in design — from the ground up. The two companies showed off the foldable smartphones a few days apart from each other, however, Huawei's CEO of mobile business just took a dig at Samsung. Talking to Business Insider, Richard Yu said that Huawei had originally developed a folding smartphone similar to the Galaxy Fold. However, the Chinese company decided to kill the smartphone because the design was "not good.” “I feel having two screens, a front screen and a back screen makes the phone too heavy," Richard Yu said about the Galaxy Fold, speaking to Business Insider. Huawei's Mate X is fundamentally different from Samsung's offering as a foldable smartphone. It has a single flexible display that folds and unfolds to become a smartphone or a tablet. Samsung's Galaxy Fold has a dedicated screen on the front of the device and separate larger screen to turn it into a tablet. However, Huawei's Mate X is quite slimmer than the Galaxy Fold which makes a bit more practical as it can fit easily in a pocket. Having said that, some also believe that Mate X is more susceptible to scratches as it is more delicate when compared to the Galaxy Fold. Both the folding smartphones cost a lot of money as the Mate X costs a staggering €2,299 ($2,600) while the Galaxy Fold costs €2,000 ($1,980). As of now, both smartphones only appeal to early adopters who are willing to spend money on the latest piece of tech.
  20. Due to a very rare genetic condition, this teenager was born without a right forearm and due to his condition, it encouraged him to build a prosthetic arm made entirely out of LEGO pieces. His name is David Aguilar, 19, who is currently studying Bioengineering in Spain. His dream is to design affordable robotic limbs for the differently abled. © Instagram "As a child, I was very nervous to be in front of other guys because I was different, but that didn't stop me from believing in my dreams," he told Reuters. In total, he has built over 4 arms. However, his latest red-and-yellow Lego arm is fully functional and can be bent at the elbow joint. Lego has been David's favourite toy since the age of nine and has become his choice of building material. "I wanted to... see myself in the mirror like I see other guys, with two hands.” © Reuters His latest models are marked with “MK” followed by a number which is basically a tribute to Iron Man and his MK suits. He even has a YouTube Channel called “Hand Solo”, where he aims to show people that nothing is impossible and disability cannot stop them. The video below shows his impressive creations at work. The MKII Prosthetic arm basically works with a Lego engine and a fishing cable. He added: "I would try to give them a prosthetic, even if it's for free, to make them feel like a normal person, because what is normal, right?” Source: Reuters
